I can already taste your tears when Anaheim doesn't get the first overall

Then you know it’s a scam. Not sure why Vancouver who’ll be trading Horvat to get bottom of the standings. They never had a first overall in history like Anaheim.

Just throw Bedard to Chicago I guess, even though they have Kane and Toews. At the moment.

Anaheim has nothing…… how are we suppose to sell out an arena with just Terry and Zegras as the main attraction. We only sell tickets when other teams come to town

If Mtl doesn't Win the Bedard derby, what kind of price would they have to pay to get him?

2023 1st (Mtl)
2023 1st (Flo)
Dach

Or

2023 1st (Mtl)
Choice of Suzuki or Caufield
Choice of Roy or Beck

Does it get it done? Or at least, is it a good starting point?
Nobody trading Bedard pick. Habs had their chance at him. They chose to improve team instead. Adding Dach, Monahan, etc....

Anaheim had a great team for a long time, id argue Arizona deserves Bedard because they might actually have a hope of attracting fans then. Pine for Bedard all you want but nobody should expect the handout of a #1 overall pick just because your team sucks right now. It's hilarious that you feel so entitled to it though.

None of us fans feel entitled to it though. What we want is a fair shake on a draft. I’m shocked coyotes, sharks, Vancouver, Blackhawks, CBJ aren’t speaking up for themselves.

Bottom line is why the heck would Montreal be in the top 5 after they drafted first overall. Very simple question when we’ve all been struggling much worst.

A lot more than Montreal has which isn’t a slight to them but frankly I don’t see whoever gets #1 trading it for anything…

Unless it’s Arizona and Bedard has the balls to tell them he won’t play for them which he should.

Imagine trading Connor McDavid a #5 overall pick, Cole Caufield, and Owen Beck.

Bedard carries near that value right now.

The offers proposed are not remotely close.

If the pick you have = Matvei Michkov, the conversation gets interesting.

I’d probably trade Bedard for Michkov + Caufield + Beck.

I could see him doing that, he's uber confident and wouldn't take HC bs about his exceptional status. I also hear he wants to play for the Canucks. So who knows, a Lindros scenario would be entertaining.

NHL fans would be pissed off if Montreal is even in the top 5. How do you have a team that drafted first overall. Get into the top 5 when we’re struggling and can’t even get a first overall pick.

The league would be spitting in Anaheims face, Vancouver’s face, and others. We never had a first overall pick. This draft year is precious we all know that.

But having Montreal in the top 5 after having a first overall would make it super suspect on how this draft works imo
And it’s not already suspect? Rangers with the 2nd overall and then 1st overall. Unfortunately, for us Anaheim fans, it’s never gonna be allowed by the NHL for the Ducks to land Bedard.

Why not? What if it’s Colorado or Oilers.

Draisaitl would surely peak interest, no?
nope

He is 27 vs someone who is 18 and would be on his ELC for 3 years and the team would have 7 years of Bedard vs Drai until he is a UFA.

Plus Drai wouldn't waive for a bottom feeding team.

2023 7th overall
2023 12th overall
Caufield
Suzuki
Guhle

For

2023 1st overall

Not sure they'd say yes even for all this tbh
Caufield signed and both Caufild and Suzuki with 50% retention?
Might work…still nobody would blame the lottery winner to take Bedard.

Playing Devil’s Advocate, as Columbus GM I would consider moving the pick. There are three reasons why:

1. All of your eggs in one basket - if Bedard has a bad injury you could be screwed but five or six assets spreads the risk.
2. History shows that the winners in this situation are the teams who trade the star. Edmonton wins the cup the year after Gretzky but LA doesn’t for another 25 years. Philly and Lindros have how many cups compared to Colorado?
3. The draft capital that you acquire can build a roster that can do things. Columbus can beat any trade offer next season for Chchyrun/Horvat/whoever.

I wouldn’t take the two offers in the OP but they are a starting point.

Columbus sends 1oa, Merzlikins and Gudbranson

Montreal sends 5oa, Florida 1st, 2024 1st, 2025 2nd, Guhle and Suzuki

Now imagine Michkov is still on the board at 5 and the Florida pick is the base of a trade for a really good d.

Not saying I would do it but I wouldn’t dismiss it out of hand.

funny when people say this player or that player and this pick or that pick for Bedard. look whoever is lucky enough to win 1st overall if they want every piece you have it's in their right to ask for it and if its too much then kick rocks.
this pick is untouchable as it gets and a package of even Slav, Caufield, Suzuki, MTL + FLA 1st likely wouldnt get it done

its a lottery. Some in it twice in their lifetime by playing 1 ticket a week, some never win it playing daily. Coin flip for Crosby was pretty wild.
My guess is bottom team wont pick 1st last year just because it happened last year on 18.5% odds. 5th team moved up to 2 with 2nd drawing.

If Michkov wasnt KHL blund for several years and have the uncertainity about when he will arrive. You could in theory see a trade where second overall with some add ons was possible. Michkov looked a little better and won the MVP when they played WJC U18.

So he might be of the same talent level, but he is a winger, 7 months older and have the mentioned uncertanity. If he hadnt been locked up for several years we could have the next Crosby vs Ovi rivalry when they entered the league the same year.

He'd have to do a Lindros and refuse to go to the team that drafted him (ex: Arizona/CBJ), then get a Lindros-like return without the money.

well it is better than the infamous Ryder, Halak and a 2nd for the rights to draft Crosby.
Ill give you that.

But I cant see any team giving up the 1 overall this year.
