Trade for 20 other first round draft picks in the top 25, and then humbly offer them all up for the 1st overall, and the gm of the team who gets the first overall doesn't immediately end the conversation by saying no (might be an exaggeration but it does its job painting a picture of how likely a team is to just hand you what is expected to be a generational talent)

There is almost nothing you can trade to get Bedard lol.

He has the potential to be the next McDavid. Why would someone trade him?

There's a few reasons why such a trade is almost impossible.

1. Some teams won't trade Bedard no matter what. Offer 2, 3, or 55 different assets, they may just say no regardless.

2. Out of the very few teams who might consider a trade, the asking price would be astronomical.

Habs have potentially 2 lottery picks this year. If Habs end up #2 and #3 - and if the team at #1 would entertain a trade - thats your starting point.

Bedard for #2 and #3 overall pick ++ (Montreal adds, probably a lot).

Extremely unlikely.

Florida is in legit race for WC spot.

Chances that Florida pick is top3 are extremely minimal

No matter how much MTL offers- or any team in the league- the Bedard pick will NEVER be traded. He's cost-controlled for 11 years essentially (assuming he re-signs 8 years) and will be just 18. If he reaches his ceiling, he's the player who can carry a team to a cup if you build around him. McDavid & co.'s dominance will have already started to fade away by the time he enters his prime

Maybe - but in a thread discussing "will Bedard be traded" - i think we're already indulging in the "events that have an extremely minimal chance of happening"

Then you know it’s a scam. Not sure why Vancouver who’ll be trading Horvat to get bottom of the standings. They never had a first overall in history like Anaheim.

Just throw Bedard to Chicago I guess, even though they have Kane and Toews. At the moment.

Anaheim has nothing…… how are we suppose to sell out an arena with just Terry and Zegras as the main attraction. We only sell tickets when other teams come to town

That's what the lottery is tho, a lottery. I say this as a redwings fan who three years ago watched the Wings end up last in the league, 23 points behind second last place, and end up with the fourth overall pick in the draft thanks to the lottery.

If Mtl doesn't Win the Bedard derby, what kind of price would they have to pay to get him?

2023 1st (Mtl)
2023 1st (Flo)
Dach

Or

2023 1st (Mtl)
Choice of Suzuki or Caufield
Choice of Roy or Beck

Does it get it done? Or at least, is it a good starting point?
Ok so here is my take. The fist and most important thing that must be done is a very rich Montreal fan must purchase the team with the first pick . He must then hire Chiarelli to run the team. After that it’s all gravy. . Offer Chiarelli a swap of firsts , Trevor Linden, and the NHL rights to KOVALCHUK and he will be butter in your hand.

If Montreal won the pick, what would it take for them to trade it? Exactly....it won't happen.
