Right, but who cut the cord because Bally actually didn't skip their last payment on that particular deal IIRC.
Bally made the payment in March (?) but missed this last payment for April (?) and the grace period ended Tuesday. Which allowed MLB and the Padres to terminate the agreement.

Here's the details:

Missed the May 15th payment and the 15 day grace period ended.

Weird, wonder why they even bothered with the earlier payment then.

TNT needs to hire him stat. Dump Gretzky - that guy is like something out of Madame Tussauds. Dude is so stiff you could surf on him.
You do have to admit the line about not seeing so many 10s being given out since 1976 was pretty damn good...

The TNT is the best lineup in hockey and I don't think it is even close to second place. Even if Grez brings it down in the personality classification, his insight has been actually really accurate and he's only there for the playoffs so he isn't a "negative" as both Messier and Chelios are on ESPN for me.
Why? Chelios sucks. I think Messier, who’s somehow even more awful makes chelios look decent.
Chelios is better when it comes to making his points come across, but Messier has more insight into the game and I can't believe I found myself agreeing with Mark the most this season (normally I cannot stand him). The problem is it seems they're getting rid of Chris because of balancing the budget instead of wanting to rejuvenate the NHL squad on ESPN. The best one on there is Callahan and I see him the least I reckon. I love me some Subban, but he comes across as obnoxious at times and Weekes is Peter McNab 2.0 where everything is positive even if a team is getting killed 10-2.

He's by far the best... ESPN would be smart to elevate Cally.

Still waiting for an intermission broadcast where the guys are sitting at a bar instead of a studio just bs'ing about the game.. that would be great to see

I'd hate every moment of that... if I want drunk idiots talking about the game, I'll just open my texts.

Man when Gretzky talks I just sit in awe and listen like I’m a little kid.

He’s probably not the most exciting but man he’s The Great One. His stories are classics and his knowledge of the game is so impressive. Not just for an old retired guy either. I feel his thoughts on the game being played have actually adapted while the game itself has changed.

His sweaters and voice are boring but I can listen to him every night.

I just wish he didn't look like an old lady.

Y'all are such freakin' agists going after Papa Gretzky like this.

Cut him some slack, because I assure you, getting old is not for sissies.

I just don't like any commentator who also happened to represent America in Nagano in 1998. Chelios, Hull, Roenick. They've all been terrible.

Chelli looked like he had checked out from day 1. Never looked like he wanted to be there.

Last one to lose his job at The Athletic. Sucks, I liked his podcast

When the VC money dries up and you get sold to a business that has a profit responsibility, this happens. A pretty solid case can be made that the sale to NYT has hurt The Athletic now and will continue to in the long-term. Gotta hand it to Mather and Hansmann though, they saw the writing on the wall of how the tide was turning on VC money and picked a very good time to get out.
