ESPN+ was honestly a joke this year. So many games, especially playoff games, I couldnt seem to get access to or weren't on it at all. I ended up just kittening it every game during the playoffs. I'd rather not but alas these are the times we live in where a Colorado resident can't legally watch their games without a ridiculous $60/month fubotv subscription or whatever. If ESPN+ was not part of the Disney bundle I'd probably just kick it to the curb.

I rationalized my Fubo subscription like this: prior to Fubo I (and the family) would routinely go to my local sports bar to watch the Avs. Maybe 5-6 times a month. Avoiding that easily erased the Fubo subscription, especially after I dumped a few Comcast channels I wasn't watching.

Yeah I was okay with ESPN+ when I could watch it through Hulu but then they made it extraordinarily difficult to do so. I tried for the bundle that bunched together those two and Disney+ and I'm still running into problems. Basically I just dread it when the game isn't on Altitude.

I really liked the Avalanche Family kind of feel Altitude brought to the broadcast this year.

I thought EL was really good. Got more and more comfortable on camera as the season went on. Seemed humble and you can tell he's got a wealth of insight from spending his whole life around the game.
Wasn't afraid big fat snake eat him.

Would love it if ESPN would leave me signed in for 15 minutes of downtime. Needier than a toddler!

Come on KSE, writing is on the wall. I like how the Suns framed it, let's get 3x the viewers to build local support. With the lack of Shit-cast showing games it's more like 10x the viewers in the Denver metro.

Sucks. We got the Rocky Mountain News (instead of the Post) delivered to my house as a kid, so Sadowski was my go-to for Avs coverage growing up, or at least until we had decent internet. In the social media age, he always seemed to steer clear of the petty drama and infighting that so many of the other local Avs journalists (and bloggers) routinely engaged in. He wasn’t flashy or bombastic, but he was good at his job.

Terrible loss. A nice guy and good journalist, I'm still bummed he didn't get to see the Rocky Mountain News come back and get his old gig again. When Anschutz was teasing a possible resurrection of the paper no one was more psyched than him.

Yep, I preferred the Rocky to the Post, much more compact and accessible, and Rick's coverage of the team was no-frills and straightforward.

Sad to hear. Always liked Sadowski's just the facts approach. Seemed as though he wasn't well for a little while. Hope he went peacefully.

Thanks for providing us with an escape from the daily grind of life Rick.

Bob Wischusen and Brendan Burke are the two best PxP guys in the game. Hands down. They should be calling the ECF and WCF every year, then one of them should get the SCF ideally Wischusen.

Sean McDonough sucks at his job. He's genuinely terrible. Zero excitement to his voice for calls. No idea why he's the lead guy.

I'd throw in Forslund and Randorf in with the Wischusen and Burke group, but this is local only so Wischusen doesn't count in this ranking. If the Isles got rid of Goring for a halfway decent color guy, they'd have the best group in the league. I'd say the Knights got shafted a bit here... Hindy and Goucher are a fantastic group. I'd have them in my top 5. Fair, balanced, insightful without being as dry as some other groups.

I like the Vegas announcers a lot. Homerism too but I LOVE the Oilers PxP guy. There's a genuine excitement to his calls especially late in games when it's a 1 goal game or an overtime game.

I wish more local guys would get national exposure.

So, wait, MLB terminated the contract with the Padres? I thought that was one of the few contracts Bally kept going.
