News Article: Colorado Avalanche Media Coverage Part VI

Just remember. We have already seen 118 more regular season games from MacKinnon than Forsberg. And Nate's not really had any recurring issues, so hockeygod's willing we should get several more years of this.

At one time I'd say it would have been blasphemous to be considering this, but Dawg is very close to becoming my favorite all-time Av.

It was super late and unnecessary - so yes it was dirty. It's understandable that Dallas people are upset with this. But also keep in mind that Russo was trying to spin a narrative that it wasn't dirty afterwards. He's Minnesota based so it's not like he's innocent non-participant in this either - just something to keep in mind.

Yeah, Russo has done plenty of spinning regarding the green filth and their shinnanigans in the past. His hatred of Colorado warms me at night. Fk that dude.

He is unchained in the playoffs. Doesn't care, if you piss him off he may beat on you before he goes and scores.

Definitely Forsberg esq, without the dirty stuff, but it's a different era. Mack nut punching a few people would be funny though.

It’s gonna be tough for anyone to ever replace Forsberg in my hockey heart. I will say tho - Mac’s ability to take over a game is impressive. I don’t think he does it as well as Peter did, but I also never imagined the Avs would find someone near that same level as Peter in such a short time.

I see Lauren Jbara is doing Braves games in addition to Hawks coverage, so if indeed the axe starts swinging at Bally, she's probably safe.

Wonder what they do at Altitude. I'm sure the usuals will be back, though were Lacroix and Johnny Malkin just temporary? I quite liked both of them filling in for the dearly departed McNab.

Apart from Jackie Redmond I don't much enjoy the national broadcasts.

I really liked the Avalanche Family kind of feel Altitude brought to the broadcast this year.

I thought EL was really good. Got more and more comfortable on camera as the season went on. Seemed humble and you can tell he's got a wealth of insight from spending his whole life around the game.

Very similar to Pete in that sense. Dad was a GM. Had his own NHL career, though obviously not as good as Pete's. You learn a lot about what it takes to win growing up that close to the game. I'm sure Pete was a mentor for him too.

Liked Johnny Michell as well. Adds a nice snarky factor and some good insight as well.

JML's Wine Cave is a home run segment, though it felt a little rushed and mailed in at times this year. They should plan out the segments a little more with some fresh ideas, to have some fun moments.

Wish Footer didn't leave for that Vancouver job. He really added a gravitas and respect factor to the group.

Ms. Jbara is also doing a podcast or something for the NHL website.

I like all things Jbara

Really interesting how this is coming full circle. Local right almost always were over the air TV until the cable RSN wave hit. Now the the cable RSN wave is dying, the move back to over the air TV is back. I think this is the third such move (could be second) in the last couple months. Probably won't be the last.

Direct-to-consumer. That's going to be a term bandied about a lot as this transition takes place.

That's a pretty sweet deal there.

I have no idea how TV and its assorted services (free to air, pay, streaming, whatever else) works in America, so I'm only bothered by how this affects NHL TV. If I can keep watching all the games whenever I like, great.

You should be fine internationally, US has crazy and stupid blackout restriction laws between states/regions or something that I don't really know myself, but Hench does.

As long as there is somebody to produce the games (there always will be unless the NHL has major financial issues), you should be fine internationally. In the US, you're subject to regional blackouts... which each team has their own map. IE Wyoming is somehow Vegas and Avs territory. Idaho is somehow Vegas, Seattle and San Jose territory....

Prior to this season I still got blackouts on NHL TV. The platform/channel that shows them here changed, but so did NHL TV itself, so I don't know which of those had the effect but I don't seem to get blackouts anymore. It's all a bit weird. The blackouts were always easy enough to get around though, I'm just worried about being able to see them at all.

Ed - also this isn't referring to watching games live, it used to be you had to wait a day to watch a game that had been shown in your area. Easy enough to get around with a VPN but still a bit annoying.

So is Nebraska, and I had to find out the hard way.

That is very strange, were the blackouts due to wanting "specific" announcers or for the ability to watch certain games? The blackouts I suspect on NHL TV are due to those games being on ESPN+/Hulu no?
