And what happens when ESPN aren't showing the NHL? And what about people who don't live in (North?) America? And what about how you can only watch it while you're subbed to ESPN+? f*** off. Bettman out.

I tried to reply to that tweet and it says "You are over the daily limit for sending Tweets." I haven't tweeted in 2023. f*** Elon and his weird fans while we're here.

Yep, that dumbass went in and fired everyone who actually knew how the site worked, and it's been one giant glitch after another.

(we've only waited 6 months for a minor event that everyone is tweeting about on Twitter)

There's daily limits on tweets now?
I mean there always has been but it’s a suuuuper high number.

This isn’t that though. This is the overgrown man-child with too much money and not enough sense firing one of only two engineers left in the building because he was mad about his own engagement numbers.

No disagreement with me there lol. I have very few positive things to say about the kid.

These are the kind of articles we've been missing @The Mars Volchenkov. Deep dives on the integral parts of the organization that rarely get talked about.

Shawn Allard should be next. He's a massive part of this teams' success IMO, but never gets any accolades.

This team has the kind of success it has, making plays in transition and in the O zone at the speed they play, becasue of all the little drills they go through to help them make passes through feet and the triangle between the stick and legs. Guys like Nate, Landy, Mikko, Nuke, and Cale have all improved their shots under him as well.

Ah, so that explains Kurtis MacDermid
All joking aside, even MacDermid has improved from where he was when he first came into the org. You used to be able to count on one or two egregious mistakes for goals against per game when he was on the ice. Now I'm not saying he never f***s up anymore, but the blown coverages have significantly decreased. Now the problem is mostly just that he's slow, but that's not a coachable issue really.

Englund has improved a lot as well, he's not an everyday NHLer either but his game has noticably improved since he's been in the NHL under Pratt. Not to mention guys like Graves who went from an AHLer to full time top 4 defenseman after a few years under our coaches. Pratt seems to do a really good job smoothing out rough spots in marginal defensemen and raising their floors, given enough time coaching them.

Obviously, MacDermid is not your ideal #6, though there is something to be said for the Belak model.
But I'm usually OK with Kurtis. For what he is he's passable on D. Prefer him as the 12th, but so it goes.
He had a great chance last night that was deflected at the last moment. Tampa were fantastic at that. Sticks on the ice. So many blocked shots. Made Toews missing the pass to Tarasenko (Kucherov... why'd I say.... nevermind) with both his stick and skate hurt all the more (not blaming him for bad luck, though I will second-guess his decision not to go down to the ice to take away that pass).
Anyway, I digress. MacDermid will frustrate, but I think he's better than we like to focus on.

Call me crazy but I’d rather have MacDermid as our last defenseman and at the cap number he’s at vs having a guy like Zadarov at his number. We need cheap grit on the roster for the cap situation we are going to be in future years.

You can find cheap grit that is better than MacDermid at actually playing hockey very easily. Yeah over Z is a no brainer... but guys like Englund are a dime a dozen and are better on the ice than MacDermid.

I bet there are at least a dozen guys in the AHL, if not more, who'd be a clear upgrade on MacDermid on defense. That doesn't even count the guys in Europe who would also be.

I'm willing to bet there's at least one guy, just ONE, in the ECHL who'd play better at D than MacDermid. That's how bad he is.

It's nice for MacDermid that he's managed to get better offensively and not be responsible every game for a goal against. He's still not close to NHL caliber. He has as many career goals as Bordeleau in more games. How he makes over league minimum is shocking. His biggest selling point is something that can only be measured by feelings. He's in the perfect situation.

I'd bet there are more than one in the ECHL. Sadly there are a lot of guys like MacPunchy in the ECHL but there are a handful of #1 D there who could literally skate circles around him out there.
