If you can make that work on your router let me know how to do it. I have tried everything I can think of and ESPN+ just basically waves a finger at me and says you are blacked out.
I have ESPN+ working with a VPN. Not at the router level, and its a specific VPN and kind of finicky, but it works.

I don't really care one way or another, and it's a pretty clear ripoff because they just called it Denver Sports and they're covering the same team, but I'm just so sick of the petty infighting and persecution complex from seemingly the entire Denver media, that I feel I should point out DNVR ripped off their name and initial logo themselves from DAZN.

Four letter abbreviation starting with a D, very similar block letter font, stacked on top of each other, black and white, with a box around it. This was right at the peak of DAZN too, about a year after they signed Canelo to that $365M deal, so it's not like they didn't see it.

Wow. Didn't think they'd take legal action. I wonder how this whole thing plays out now. The fan can easily make a new logo, but I wonder how far they wanna take this. If expensive lawyers get involved I'm not sure if DNVR has the capital to get into a long drawn out court battle.

My God I could make a new logo for them in goddamned Inkscape in like fifteen minutes. There’s a chance it would be better too. What a bunch of morons running The Fan.

I don't know why they're pitching a fit over the logo. It's really not that close and the name is more of a rip off than the logo. Neither are particularly good logos either.

They don't have a copyright that covers every jagged line in a logo that represents the Rocky Mountains or prevents anyone from using the very popular black and white combo. That jagged line existed long before DNVR anyway. It's been on most of the Avs jerseys in some form one way or another since 96. Plenty of other companies use it too.

The only reason this is a big deal is because they're called Denver Sports and they cover the same team. Otherwise it would just be one of millions of borrowed or influenced logos from someone else.

It's an anti competitive issue because they're a bigger media company not only in the same industry and essentially stole their name, but they're both covering the same team, and they also have this DenverSports.com website that's very much in the same vein as DNVR's website.

But even though the name is clearly a rip off, this is kind of a problem was their own making, because they called themselves DNVR, and they can't expect every sports related company in Denver not to use the word Denver. This was going to happen eventually.

IMO the logo is whatever, but they should change the name. Whether they're forced to or not. It's just the right thing to do. If they keep it they're clearly just trying to confuse consumers and steal whatever name recognition DNVR has amassed already.

The Athletic has a strange setup for their hockey coverage. They got one guy covering both the Ducks and Kings, one guy covering both New York teams, but they got two guys covering the Minnesota Wild!?

The Ducks and Kings I can understand. Two teams nearly on top of each other and no one gives a shit in the entire region. Can't even buy merch for either one except at the stadiums themselves.

IMO Denver Sports ripped off this old Nuggets logo a hell of a lot more than DNVR's.

Then again this shot from South Park shows just how obvious a logo/image this is to come up with.

Also who had this logo first, with the sun between the two mountains? DNVR or this designer Johnny Black that sells these stock logos?

Eh, it wasn’t that hard for them to have an NHL beat reporter in every city. They let go of a really good writer on their Kings beat.

But I still don’t get why Joe Smith went from covering the Bolts to covering the Wylde, and of course they ain’t gonna move Russo, so, two guys covering one team? Makes no sense. And I’m not even sure they have ANYONE assigned to the two Florida teams.

Fun fact… the distance between the Kings and Ducks is over 3x the distance between Rags and Devils. Distance between Devils and Isles is roughly the same.

People always underestimate how spread out the western US is.

3x nothing is still nothing.

Yes, the west is very spread out, but Anaheim and LA aren't exactly on the other side of the state from each other. And the massive populations there simply don't give a shit about hockey like NY/NJ do.

It is something like 40 miles between the teams (I think the practice facilities are closer 50 miles... from the beach to south of LA), and you have the notorious LA traffic and piss poor public transportation. I know why The Athletic is doing it this way (not enough fans and they are losing money hand over fist), but the expectation that they can be covered by one writer effectively is like saying the same guy can cover the Devils and Islanders.

On the whole DNVR logo thing... I totally get their outrage, but I'm not sure they really have a case to stop it.

I found that both directv stream and Fubo have a hefty 2 minute-ish delay. Which really sucks while chatting about the games on here. I'd assume that DirecTV satellite would have no delay, but I really, REALLY don't want to sign a 2 year commitment. Especially since I'm already locked into one with the f*** faces over at Comcast. I could try setting up a VPN on my router to try and watch the game via ESPN+, but I have a feeling it will have the same delay. Evoca also streamed the game through the internet, but it didn't seem to have the delay the other do. Not sure why. I will probably just go back to kitties at this rate.

It's not a 2 minute delay... maybe 30 seconds or so. For DirectTV stream

If you chose to drive from LA to Anaheim it’s not a large distance but it can take you around the same time it does to go from Chicago to Milwaukee with the right traffic coming from certain parts of LA.

I don't think the Denver skyline is a copyright infringement, it should be public use for everyone. There are also no similarities between the logos except for colour and perhaps font (and I write this hating The Fan).

And I’d bet that is an open source font. We all know what the reality of what the fan did… but legally, I think they are in the clear.
