On the whole DNVR logo thing... I totally get their outrage, but I'm not sure they really have a case to stop it.

Personally I don't think they're doing this to gain any sort of injunction, I think this is just to pile on the already-embarrassing PR debacle The Fan has on their hands with this announcement.

It's funny, our garbage service essentially got ousted from our entire neighborhood because some other new outfir with literally the same logo (Husker Refuse instead of Houser Refuse, both had a house-shaped "HR" logo) and cheaper rates and snatched up nearly every customer save for us and one of our neighbors down the street. This feels pretty similar to that.

In other news, I subscribed to CHN again!

Oh, @The Mars Volchenkov, you should let your dude over in IT know that on the subscription confirmation page it still has Dater's name.

Not to mention, as others have pointed out, they stole their entire shtick from DAZN, including their original logo.
I didn't even think about that, but yeah.

Don't get me wrong I empathize with their outrage, but this happens all the damn time in business especially public facing ones.

This second paragraph is case in point:

It might be slightly embarrassing for The Fan, but they can just ignore it. People will forget about this in a month and move on to the next stupid thing. If DNVR really digs in an makes a big thing about it, they'll get schooled in court and really in the public eye.

Maybe it's faster where you live, but my delay was definitely more than 30 seconds.

I can’t watch sports and text with my best friend in SF because there’s always like a minute delay, and he’ll react to things that haven’t even started to happen yet. It happened when I had standard satellite DirecTV and it’s worse with YouTubeTV. Kinda ruins shit.

I feel like with the amount of apps that exist (could there be a billion now?) that it’s pretty impossible to create a distinctive logo. It’s all been done so any logo is going to look like a lot of other logos, especially when you are in the same geographical area covering the same thing.

In a way you have to hand it to Marcus and Raphael... they knew people in Lincoln would fall for the 'Husker' name.

Yep, some Machiavellian shit goin' down in the municipal waste disposal business here in (not) sunny Lincoln!

Nah. You might create a logo that has similarities to others somewhere, but it should be ridiculously easy to create a distinctive logo within your own industry. Certainly one that contrasts with that of your direct competitors.

But we may be seeing a ton more copycats in the age of Fiverr (don't ever use them) and AI art generation apps, which just take the art that's already out there and repurposes it.

Yeah I definitely am interested in subscribing to CHN now that @The Mars Volchenkov is running it.

I only subscribed to TheAthletic for Avs coverage anyways but CHN might be better.
I never ever pay for online publications mostly because I read from so many spots that I doubt I'd utilize any one source enough to make it worth it. That being said, I do re-up with The Athletic when it's a dollar a month because they do push enough good content to make it worth it and I do actually read it, probably because the app is easy enough. How much is CHN, asked the lazy surfer.

$3.49 a month. I can't remember the yearly rate but it's around $30, so you save money doing it that way.

Hope Hockey Now someday gets an app, that's the easiest way to do it, and I know JUST THE LOGO you can use!

Fun fact… the distance between the Kings and Ducks is over 3x the distance between Rags and Devils. Distance between Devils and Isles is roughly the same.

People always underestimate how spread out the western US is.

They're all very close in proximity. The difference is basically negligible.

Ducks to Kings isn't even 2x the distance as Rags to Isles. Devils to Isles is even further than Ducks to Kings. And all these routes can vary slightly in distance depending on traffic, because there's multiple ways to get there.

MSG to Prudential Center is 14 miles - LINK

MSG to UBS Arena is 18.3 miles - LINK

Prudential Center to UBS Arena is 37.4 miles - LINK

Crypto Arena to Honda Arena is 30.4 miles - LINK

It's more that people don't realize how small Manhattan is and how close in distance it is to Jersey and Long Island in your comparison, than it is LA and Anaheim being far apart.

Let’s just say I’ve been thrown to the wolves a bit, but that’s okay. Trying to go through and fumigate the website from him.

No, Footer will always be GOAT. Pshh
All of them are solid, but Malkin reminds me of a young Rycroft where he will say stuff against the Burgundy grain (tends to be true) or says really intelligent points when they’re down a goal or up a goal or are playing bad, which I don’t think you get with Foote and Eric. It just sucks that they started branching out strictly due to Maxy’s death. They should’ve been brought on long before that. I still watch majority of the games on opposing feed though because Moser…is…yeah…

Rycroft has also been brutal since taking over colour duties. Always seems to have the rose coloured glasses on. Been championing the "EJ has been fantastic all season!" train when EJ has been horrendous.

Rycroft would be way better if he dialed down the fandom quite a bit. Less lingo and hyperbole. Not everything and every player is "awesome."

Wait.. Is that John Mitchell? Nfkn way?

The Avs will always have homers on the mic as long as the Kroenke's own the network they play on. No one is gonna hire guys that downplays their own product.

The Altitude guys are homers because of course they are, they’re literally employees of the organization. That said they don’t always shy away from harsh criticism either. If anyone has lightened up a bit it’s Rycroft. He used to ROAST the team with the telestrator.

Has anyone deactivated or stopped using Twitter?

In the last couple days I've noticed you can't do 'latest tweets' first again... and there's just a column of 'For you', which are including tweets from users I do not follow (some of which I specifically don't want to see), or 'Following' only, but it's not in real time (ie latest first).

Sometimes I'm seeing Tweets multiple times a day because they're repeating in the queue, probably because they're popular, meanwhile I'm missing all the tweets I would normally see throughout the day... Which is the same issue I was having let's say a year or so ago when Twitter would constantly revert back to 'most popular' vs 'latest'.

I guess I just need to kick the habit, but idk where else to go for news.

Yeah it’s a nightmare over there. Before this latest joke of an update I was getting like 5,000 sponsored tweets, and there was at least a few I told the f***ing app I didn’t want to see again and they kept reappearing.

Now they brought back cropped images, getting rid of which was one of the few good things they’ve done in recent years.
