Short answer is yes in a sheltered role.

Hard to argue he didn't choose the right destination to try and revitalize his image as an elite transition player.

Yes, elite puck mover and nice shot. Bit iffy defensively but that's not his game. Would re-sign him.

Start was a bit wonky but you can see he fits well with the Oilers as he is an excellent puck mover and a smart player. In the playoffs he has generally been very good.

He's back to his old Dallas self where he was a top 3-4 defender. If anyone is questioning this, then they have not watched an Oiler game in these playoffs

Not sure if he would be a good fit anywhere else in the league.
The Oilers defensive system they're deploying these playoffs is centered around a skill he's still incredible at.

He's an outlet pass savant. We don't need him to skate it out, we don't need him to be a punishing physical bruiser. We need him to collect the puck and immediately and fire a stretch pass up-ice to a forward before the opposing forecheck can close in.

I'm not sure any other team plays like this.

Yes. Very low expectation, but he's been solid as No.4-5.

Kulak plays almost as much as Bouchard and Nurse. Those are top 3 in icetime. Walman is like No.5

Imo the runaway success of Stecher, Walman and Klingberg is why we are doing well in these playoffs. All of our D are capable, even passable on the top pairing if needed, and no one is overplayed. Having that is a great set up for the forwards to excel, and the goalie

Ekholm apparently may be back in the line-up tonight. If he can play 15-20 mins a night, it would be huge.

I wasn’t the biggest fan when we signed him. I thought we needed a steady defensive defenseman, but he’s been a good surprise. He’s good in transition and moves the puck well… and he isn’t as bad defensively as I thought he would be

One opinion I've had that has certainly cemented through these playoffs, is that it's infinitely easier to get a guy like Klingberg to play solid enough D to get 16 wins in the postseason, than it is to get a guy like Carlo to provide even a fraction of what JK provides offensively with his poise and passing from the backend to get the puck moving the right way.

The cats with their relentless forecheck will be the ultimate test for him, and I personally believe Klingberg(and Walman) will be a major reason we take this.

Forsling of these playoffs. Guy is the best passers in the D corp. Has been absolutely amazing coming back from where he was.

I think a lot of credit has to go to Knob and Coffey with our defense. They've done phenomenal with a group that I would've never thought would be this good, especially without our #1 defensive guy in Ek.

Then of course the whole team buying into the system
