Avs have all the 1st rounders remaining and it's been proven time and time again that they cannot draft outside the top 10. No excuse why no big investments weren't made.
Manson, Georgiev, Lehkonen, Cogliano. Big investments were made.

Those firsts were held onto for a reason, I can understand why some Avs fans are upset about not using them. Not I.

Only Georgiev was acquired this season and that was during the summer. Ambitious teams go out and make big investments every season, look at Tampa.

Ok I will look at Tampa. They traded all of there draft picks for Tanner Jeannot, who is now injured.
Don't focus on one year. Tampa went to the finals three times in a row and their management group aggressively tries to push them over the top.

The same cannot be said about the Avs. They went for it once and surprise surprise that was the cup year.

Dude we have a great team that has been built by a great management group. If they want to hold onto their first round picks instead of spending them at decreased value then so be it.

The Avs probably will not make it to 3 straight Stanley Cups, but I will choose not to complain about it.

How much playoff experience do they have? Any of these vets win 4 rounds on the way to a Stanley cup? Was Schwartz on that cup team? Genuinely asking.

Seems to me most of the players with any playoff experience got it with the Avs.
I think they have 7 players who have won a cup. Grubauer, Jones, Gourde, Dunn, Schwartz, Schultz, and Burakovsky.

Is it a fair assumption the avs fit into the “one line team” category now with their injuries? History has not been kind to one line teams in the playoffs.

I think it's fair to be honest. Avs will have to rely alot on the defense transition to offense with Makar, Byram, Toews and Girard while playing great on the backend.

They don’t have the same depth without Kadri and Landeskog, but they still have solid top 2 lines if they put Rantanen on the 2nd line

Nichushkin-MacKinnon-Rodrigues
Lehkonen-Compher-Rantanen

Bednar will answer this question. If he puts Rantanen on the 2nd line, the 2nd line can be functional. If not, it struggles.

Occasionally Malgin goes off. Nehook too. But it's sporadic.

Congrats to the Seattle Kraken on making it to their first ever playoff appearance.

Unfortunately for the Kraken they have the task of taking on the defending Stanley Cup champions in the 1st round.

Avalanche take this series in 5 games.

Well if that’s the case then that’s pretty damn good group to rely on.

Makar, Manson, Cogliano and Malgin all seemingly good to go for Tuesday.

Guessing the Avs lineup will look something like this:

Lehkonen-MacKinnon-Rantanen
Rodrigues-Compher-Nichuskin
Newhook-Eller-Malgin
Nieto-Cogliano-O'Connor

Toews-Makar
Byram-Manson
Girard-EJ

The bottom 6 and D is pretty set, but could see lots of movement in that top 6.

Your whole point is that they didn't go for it "this year" now suddenly we shouldn't focus on one year? What even is your point then?

Or maybe look what they did to win a 2nd cup. They didn't sit on their hands with tons of picks while having one of the worst bottom six's in the league

That's a good enough lineup to be competitive and do some damage in the playoffs with solid goaltending and good health. They just really can't afford any injuries like they could last year, and won't be able to save Georgiev when he has an off night.

My expectations are low this year but that's OK. Last year was a good time.

As long as we win a round or two.... I am good this year. Without Landy, it kinda takes the pressure off.
