This is a super interesting one because of the expansion team factor. Will Seattle do what Vegas did in their first year? Ie: A bunch of players not protected in the expansion draft have a chance to prove everybody's wrong? It sucks that Burakovsky is injured. Would have been fun to see him face his old team. I feel like Colorado are pretty banged up right now. They lost Kadri, Burakovsky too from their last run and Landeskog wont play so Im going for a upset in this round and Im going Seattle in 7!

As of when I'm writing this comment - 42 of 361 votes for Seattle. 11.6%. It's hard to get more lopsided than that.

I hate picking sweeps; even in mismatches I often figure the underdog is likely to get one game even if it's pure luck. So Avs in 5 is my pick here.

I think there's a surprise in here, but then again.. would it be really that big of a surprise if Kraken beat Avs?
Avs season been a yoyo up an down type, where as Kraken been solid strong trough out the season.

Yes Avs current form is aces but don't count Kraken out; the deepest scoring team in the NHL

This couldn't be a Leafs fan trying to pass off a passive aggressive desire Schadenfreude as legitimate analysis, could it?

Oh he got hurt? Did not even know that, that is a shame.

Kraken will win this very easily as long as they get NHL level goaltending and keep it 5on5.

Real analysis? That's not going to change fact that the Avs stepped on the Blues' neck the last two seasons and were the team to jettison the Blues into irrelevance.

Easy to see how this might be the analysis of someone bitter.

Seattle will play their asses off but they will give up to much too the Avs. Mack will have a field day and so will Rantanen and Makar. Avs in 5.

I have the Avs winning in an easy 5 game series. Kraken are playing with house money by reaching the playoffs this soon, but they're completely overmatched by the Avs. The sense get around town here in Seattle is most are just happy and pleasantly surprised to see the Kraken make it.

Actually, the Kraken has played the Avs very well this season. All match-ups were very close nailbiters with the closest of errors making a difference in each match. Grubauer also played probably his best game of the season against the Avs. However, this was when Seattle was in peak performance and the Kraken for the last month of the season was struggling big time. The goaltending is a huge question mark and Francis set them up to fail because he overestimated Grubauer's ability and then signed Jones when Grubs had an awful season last year. I don't blame him to try and get some goaltending, but following that with Martin Jones as backup is just pure stupidity and could cost them a playoff series because they were 2nd and 3rd for a very long time in their division and could've had an easier match up against the Oilers or Kings. I got Avs in 5.

Interesting as they're basically opposites. Colorado is super top heavy with Rantanen, MacKinnon, Nichushkin and then fall of a cliff forward depth wise. Seattle doesn't have the same caliber of top players but their 3rd and 4th liners are all scoring 30-50 points. Not sure Colorado has the depth to hold up to that as Vegas chewed through top heavy teams the same way their inaugural year.
The problem is that all of this is true and yet it should come down to goaltending. Those Kraks will have to play against a goaler who should get Vezina votes this year. Avs bottom 6 gets to play against <0.900 save percentage.

Yeah but that was a couple of years ago and was against the flames, hockey is different now….. somehow….. especially with Draisaitl and Karlsson equally being the two second best players in the game. Imagine if Karlsson played for the oilers…. Mcdavid would have 400 points, Draisaitl 250 and Karlsson would definitely have 1000.
It's only -different- if the supposed favorite doesn't win.
So yes, some expect to be different, lol.
