Kinda crazy the Avs managed to beat out 2 other relatively solid teams to win the Central given how they've looked in this series. Looking at it on paper it looks more like the team that snuck into the 2019 playoffs instead of powerhouse that came off a great playoff run last year.

Still phenomenal top end talent but the depth just isn't there. Doubly so with what's happened during this series.
Definitely the case. As much as I don’t want them to lose, the players have to have some time to recover. They haven’t been a good team since Day 1. A step behind all year.

As an Avs fan, I'm super jealous of you guys having Matt Beniers. He's got Top-6 skills but has that grit and grind Bottom-6 mindset. It's going to make him such an effective player in the long run, and was one of the first things I noticed when he was playing in the WJCs the first time around. He'd be such a stellar fit on the Avs, but I think every team in the league could say that.

Seems to me like the Avs biggest issue at the moment are their star players, not the depth or injury issues. Makar taking that game penalty, MacKinnon getting angry instead of skating to the bench for the gwg against or Nichushkin having fun with hookers at his hotel room....

This is promising for the Avs - I was afraid that they would come out and tell the press that they were going to pack it in.

Not holding my breath. They haven't shown up for the first ten minutes of any game in this series so I don't think they are magically going to change that. It's not like Seattle isn't going to push as well.

LETS GO KRAK ATTACK!! Finish off those crying dirty punks!!!

I definitely had some tears after the Cup win.

Well. It is a new challenge for them. They haven’t faced elimination for 2 years. Unlike most other teams that haven’t had the same type of adversity they’ve had to go through.

Their star players have had the most amount of adversity I’ve ever seen for a defending champion.

This entire Nichushkin situation is going to be lethal for the Avs. Not just as a result of them losing in Nichushkin yet another player, but its such a gigantic distraction. Off-ice adversity sometimes cause teams to rally together, but this seems to be the type of off-ice situation that does the opposite and causes dysfunction. I think Seattle knocks Colorado out tonight.

Depth, injuries, and current star player "let downs" (whatever we want to call them) are intertwined. The team entered the season with suspect depth to begin with, and the injuries obviously made things worse and exposed the roster of forwards for what it is: poor beyond the big 3/4. These issues weren't addressed at the TDL or with current players taking big leaps forward, and in turn they're leaning too heavily on the star players. If Landeskog were in, or the team still had Kadri and Burakovsky, MacKinnon throwing tantrums or Nichushkin taking time off for whatever reason, would be much easier to deal with.

I don't think people realize how big of a loss Landeskog is to Colorado. They should still beat Seattle though.
