As an Avs fan, I feel like we got taken to the woodshed in this deal. Hopefully I'm wrong and Blackwood works out for us, but Kovo was one of our better prospects, we lost a 2nd and retained 14% on George. Ugh.

Some people are like “Kovalenko is going to be a player!” Others are much less high on him. Curious what his ceiling is and what his game is like? Good skater? Hits? Doesn’t seem to score much but…

Blackwood has been solid this year and honestly.. Colorado doesn't need all that much from there goalie to go on a run. Still seems like a lot to give up, as there is no guarantees with Blackwood and there D has been a major issue.

I think the 2nd is based more on dumping Georgiev than it is for acquiring Blackwood.

Blackwood is worth nowhere close to a 2nd. He's better than George for sure but he stuggles pretty wildly with inconsistency and can never stay healthy. This deal reeks of desperation for Colorado.

I know the Avs' prospect situation is rough but there's no way that can be true.

Again, what were you expecting? More likely than not that 2nd round pick will help the Sharks acquire a more useful player than Blackwood. Top-4 defensemen go for two 2nds all the time.

Given that they took the Georgiev negative-value cap dump off Colorado's hands and did them a massive favour, I would have expected a 1st coming back for sure. Again, especially because Blackwood's contract was so cheap.

Taking that shitty contract back - something you'd probably expect to get a 2nd to take - almost makes it as though they received nothing for him.

I feel bad for Sharks fans. Why trade away a goalie that is playing well and starting to build a winning athmosphere for a 2nd round pick and a mid type prospect.

If Blackwood is good (I’m definitely not convinced but that’s the premise of the deal), then the price is insignificant.

People are going to glorify baby Tank in this deal but let’s be real…”one of our better prospects” means very little. He’s a 25 year-old rookie winger getting 4th line ice time in a healthier line-up. I’m happier it was him than Ivan Squared.

This is almost all about the pick for San Jose.

You drastically overestimate how much it takes to dump a contract expiring this summer. Taking on Georgiev is literally meaningless to the Sharks.

What a weird trade.

Avs sure know about forwards but they seem to suck when it comes to understanding goaltending.

The Annunen for Wedgewood deal was horrible.

But this is way worse. To give up a 2nd and Kovalenko to basically get a goalie that’s at best on par with Georgiev (at worse Blackwood is usually injured)?

Wow

Lol whose fanbase wants to claim this guy? I’m making him a free-agent on behalf of the Avalanche.

Blackwood looks for real and then blows a tire. Good luck with that. But as was noted Avs don't need Vasy or Shesty in net to win the whole thibng

I don't feel like Ivan² is a prospect anymore. I think he's on this team for the long haul.
