Will roslovic give up his #?

He will!

Obviously we haven’t talked about him much, but I think Hall could be a really clever bit of business for us. It can’t be over stated how bad Chicago is, and I think we’ll see a production increase from a guy who has suddenly found a spare pocket of motivation to dip into. Also helps that he’s very much going to be a top 6 supporting role guy instead of being asked to do it all.

Yeah, Hall is just another guy at this point, but he's still a skilled player who can be a needle-mover on the 2nd unit PP and bottom 6. Given how a skill guy like Jarvis thrives with JStaal, perhaps Hall can also get some of that JStaal magic. Or maybe Hall plays on the 4th line and tries to exploit mismatches. The key for him is motivation. If he follows the school of Rod we have a good fit on our hands, and getting him early in the season gives the two time to figure each other out.

We went from having some holes in the top 9 to now a plethora of combos for Rod to try out. I don't expect Hall or even Rants to be on fire game 1, and will temper expectations for them to find chemistry with our guys. I do think Rants will be stapled to Aho on line 1, which bumps Jackson Blake back down.

Hall has been a healthy scratch this season, and only averaging 15min/gm.

Who can name all (4). This one challenged me, I only got 1/4 on who wore #71.
Same, although I'm mad at myself not getting a second.

For anybody who doesn't want to look it up: Jesper Fast (the one I got), Lucas Wallmark (the oen I should have remembered), Jerome Samson, and the legend himself Tomas Malec

Yes. I was hoping to be the first to post that today. However, in franchise history, we've had one other #1 overall play for the Whalers. The incredible, indelible, somewhat edible, Brian Lawton.
i got curious about other teams that haven't had a 1st overall play for them...

i might have missed something, but best i can tell there are two franchises that have not had a first overall play for them in their franchises' history - Seattle(duh) and Anaheim(!).

Using the "since the canes started canesing" it looks like you can add the Utah Hockey Club - Dale Hawerchuk was taken by their grandparent franchise city, but played his last game for the OG Jets the same season Lawton played his last game for the Whale.

asterisk if you like - the only first overall i could find for the 2nd wave Jets was Kovalchuk. the franchise had him, but he was never a jet, only a thrasher.

Extreme happiness aside from this deal I see some downside impacts:
  • Lose a superb face-off guy in Drury....important end-game and playoffs
  • Need to replace Drury's 2nd PP & PK minutes
  • Lose team speed as Necas was 99 percentile....OT & zone entry's impacted
But, now team is bigger up front & has a more varied way to score (very important in playoffs).

Also, I was a big fan of Necas but was always disappointed that the didn't use his frame more and never went to the net with speed (he always drove into the zone with speed and then did his stop and turn move versus taking the opportunity to drive to the net for a goal scoring chance....my conclusion was he was afraid to take a hit/get hurt versus a smart hockey play).

btw: some posters have suggested MR is not fast......this is his NHL stats for this year (top speed 84 percent is not slow but granted, he doesn't use it often):

However, is this impacted by the work rate (97 percentile) required by Avs Coach?

He can of course shoot:

I just want to know how Chicago was talked into being involved in this for just a 3rd rounder. But wow this is great.
I wonder if it has anything to do with it being specifically their 3rd. It might have more value to them than any other similar asset as it allows some offer sheets to be considered by them that they otherwise would have no ability to partake in.

They now can offersheet 4m-10m range with their 3rd pick back

Honestly, if there is one franchise I trust more than anyone to find a grinding defensive minded 4th line center who can win faceoffs but doesn't score much, it's the Carolina Hurricanes. Seems like every time we sneeze in the summer we fart out a couple more of them.
