Trading Foegele was a rare mistake from this FO, but one that they ultimately recovered from because of Martinook's emergence. Even if Drury does better offensively with a different team, however, the Canes have a lot of options and young guys floating through the system.
I think Drury simply is what he is, he didn't have anything about him that had plus level attribute wise the way Foegele did with his skating (which IMO is plus plus) that he can build off of to be a top 6 type player. What he is is basically his dad, a solid hard-working bottom 6 guy that you like having in your lineup.

Wow sad to see Necas go , exciting player , i wish we could have use him for Brady Tkachuck trade bait , is Rant. that much better? i always thought he was good because of playing with Mackinnon , Makar and others . hope he doesnt pull a Guentel as we had Necas for another year same to Drury , and why isnt Rantanen on our Puckpedia , do we need to make another trade to make room?

Take care of our boy gentlemen. Rants is a gem. I'm crushed that he's gone from the Avs but I like the Canes and am excited to see the Aho connection take hold. Good luck the rest of the way!

You too!

Necas is Mr hot Mr cold but he's super-talented. In theory he should thrive in your teams system. Drury is a good depth piece.

They would go FA shopping before putting a 23-year-old with two games of NHL experience next to Slavin.

In the same season as Nikishin, to boot. I think the Canes will stagger their entrance into the NHL. Burns probably wants to play at least one more season in the league unless we win the Cup this year, in which case he might decide to go out on top.

Well, I'm gutted. Wishing Mikko nothing but the best.

This dude is the real deal. You guys fleeced us. Years from now we will look back and this will potentially be one of the largest lop-sided trades in NHL history.

I think you’re underrating Necas here. Him and McKinnon together are going to be a treat to watch. They are, by every advanced statistic the league has, the two fastest players in the league.

So how did this conversation even happen?

Was it kind of low-key obvious among GMs that Rants wasn't going to stay, and Tulsky just got there first with the best asset and the cap space to match? Did anyone else have the ability to make a similar trade had they known Rants was available? Is Tulsky just better at the homework? How did we manage this?

From what it sounds like based off the tweets from Friedman, we were talking with Vancouver, but decided to take that possible package and swing a deal with Colorado instead.

Take care of our boy. There's no point in providing a scouting report on what you guys can expect. Everyone knows how good Mikko is. Avs fans started to sour on him a bit due to his tendency to be streaky and I personally think complacency got the best of him, especially after the writing was on the wall that the Avs weren't going to entertain $14M.

That said, I'd be shocked if we don't see an extremely motivated Mikko Rantanen on the Canes. And when Mikko is motivated, works hard and plays up to his potential he is an all-world, game-breaking player without question. I'm looking forward to catching Canes games from here on out. I'll be rooting for him big time.

You'll love Rants and I have no doubt he'll re-sign there.

I'm really intrigued how he looks with the Canes where the minutes are more balanced. Rants knew how to put up points, but one if his main critiques was his effort level and being a non-factor for many games outside of scoring.

But if his minutes go from 22-23 minutes a night to 18-19 minutes a night I think we'll see a more engaged Rants.

Assuming we can sign him. If not it won’t look so shiny but that’s a bridge to cross later.
