Confirmed with Link: [COL, CAR, CHI] Rantanen-Hall to CAR, Necas-Drury-25 2nd-26 4th to COL, Chi 25 3rd to Chi (Ret 50% on Mikko)

PuckPedia says they've used all three

Maybe they changed it? Says they have 1/3 remaining now.

CapWages only had Mikko and McCabe earlier too.

Edit: Oh they have Bailey listed in a buyout/retained section at the bottom, that's probably where the mistake was.

I guess we can blame Stan Bowman for giving Draisaitl that bloated contract last offseason.

CMac put his titanium balls on the table with this one. I'll withhold judgement until we see what he does with the extra cap space before the deadline.
How much did you guys save though? Rantanen was 9.25? Necas and Drury combine to something like 8.25?

Shouldn't we be able to activate Landy now?

If capwages can be trusted we've got $5,679,000 in cap space right now. So we're about 1,321,000 short. Kylington to LTIR would open up a tad over 1M. Landy being active means someone gets sent down...Wagner or Innala would atually open up enough. Or what am I missing?

Miles Wood comes off IR tomorrow and that goes down to $3,179,000 cap space.

With Wood, we would be at 15 forwards and 8 defensemen. That’s illegal.

2 guys will be sent down.

Innala - 870k
Wagner - 775k
Middleton - 775k

If 2 of those 3 go down, frees up another $1,550,000 or $1,645,000 if Innala is one of them.

That would give us either $4,729,000 or $4,824,000(if Innala is one of them) in cap space.

Didn't Chicago just waste their last retention spot on Mikko?

No, AJ messed up. They have only used 2 of the 3 retention spots.

Every year counts for the Avs because Nate is almost 30. I’m not completely giving up on this season before I see what other moves are made. I still have faith that CMac will make the right moves

You can't bank 100% on one season, but you can on two or three. If possible.

Necas could do exactly what Mikko just did if he gets a Mack bump, but we just bought another playoff run.

Canucks and Tampa for me personally

Yeah but your a traitorous mfer stfu

Loveufoeva tho

Holy f***.....CMac really doesnt f*** around.....

You are in, or you are gone....

I really wonder what the Deal with Carolina will look like for Rants.

I am honest:
It hurts a little to never watch the Moose in an AVS-sweater again. Really thought he would be a lifer in Denver. Wish him good luck in Carolina.

But in the end its also a business. And we were not willing, or able, to give him the money he seeks.

The return is, at least, good for an UFA.

I really hope CMAC is not done.

Rantanen seems to be a tough/stubborn negotiator. Took until 28th september to sign him to the previous extension and even when it was just a 6 year deal so it expired while Rantanen was in his prime.

I have to think CMac tried every possible way to get this done at a price that works for both sides. I don't mind players trying to maximize their pay. They've earned that right. But sometimes you're that overpaid player on a team that can never get there for the last 5-6 years of your career if that's the most important thing.

Yeah he’s making the tough deals that many GMs shy away from.

Goaltending not up to snuff? Flip both goalies for a new tandem.

Got a star on an expiring deal who won’t re-sign? Flip him for some solid assets before he walks for nothing.

I’m also very curious to see how Mikko does without Nate. Aho is a good player but he’s not MacKinnon. Wondering if Mikko can keep up the same point pace

I mean...I get it, the guy seemed to genuinely love Denver and he deserved a huge pay day but you can't really call it a blindside move unless CMac and co. were like "yeah we will definitely give you $14M/yr". If he really wanted to play competitively with the Avs for the rest of his career he could have taken a fair deal to help both himself and the team.

I say this all as one who is quite bummed that he is gone.

He had to have known, or at least strongly suspected that he wasn't going to get more than Nate, and asking for that would be like saying "I don't care if I blow up the team, pay me."

Yeah for sure. If anything he should be mad at his agent for that absurd demand. I doubt Mikko is the one waltzing into the GM office and saying he wants $14M.
