Confirmed with Link: [COL, CAR, CHI] Rantanen-Hall to CAR, Necas-Drury-25 2nd-26 4th to COL, Chi 25 3rd to Chi (Ret 50% on Mikko)

Holy f***.....CMac really doesnt f*** around.....

You are in, or you are gone....

I really wonder what the Deal with Carolina will look like for Rants.

I am honest:
It hurts a little to never watch the Moose in an AVS-sweater again. Really thought he would be a lifer in Denver. Wish him good luck in Carolina.

But in the end its also a business. And we were not willing, or able, to give him the money he seeks.

The return is, at least, good for an UFA.

I really hope CMAC is not done.

I did not want to watch this team with Mack, Mikko, and Makar and nothing else try to compete for a cup.. 2nd in the Conference getting bounced in the first or second round consistently for the next five years.

One thing this season had taught me.. I don't like watching a top heavy team that isn't built to actually win.

Needed a real goalie, need better depth on lines two and three, need a more well rounded defense.

THAT was never happening with Mikko at 12.5 or 14M. Just wasn't worth it.

Yes I want all in for the cup every year, but this team, with Mikko wasn't going to do it.

With a real 3C, a forward with 85% of the production (55 is fkn literally 85% of 64) in which that is literally all that matters. We've still got a pretty good shot, and another year.

THIS TYPE OF TRADE FOR A UFA NEVER HAPPENS. Cmac actually made history here.

I'm joking, that actually makes a lot of sense...but still...me = sad

Are we done playing the Canes this year or do we have one more game? I know we played them already but was it once or we played them twice already?

I have to admit I didn’t see that coming from you.

Mikko has been dragging ass all season, hasn’t been able to carry a line, and wanted 14m per year.

Necas is 3 years younger, signed through next season, and get this… was Carolina’s leading scorer with 55 points in 49 games and has CARRIED HIS OWN LINE. His center has been f***ing Kotkaniemi and he’s 11th in the league in points.

One of the fastest skaters in the league, he goes from Kotkaniemi to likely MacKinnon as his center. Him and Nate will be absolutely flying past opponents. If he could put up 9 less points than Mikko this year playing 6 less minutes per game and next to Kotkaniemi, imagine what he will do with Nate. Mikko was also feasting on empty net points.

Drury is a solid hockey player. Finally a guy to win draws. Very solid defensively. Tenacious forechecker. Strong PKer. A natural center unlike Kelly and other dudes we have forced into the role.

Draft capital will help in deadline acquisitions.

If Mikko truly wanted 14m per season, I actually love this trade.
Ill be fine with it if more is coming. Right now I hate it and I been a Necas stan for a few yrs.

He's the one paying the guy doing it.

Same agent as Blackwood, who signed an extension less than two weeks after being acquired.

Mikko had a number in his mind… apparently 14m… and was not going to budge.

Given the lack of flexibility, he had to know this was a possible outcome.

The money is what mattered the most to him.

If nothing else comes, this will be one of the worst trades in recent history. It made us worse and didn’t fill the holes the roster has. I just can’t think CMac is done. I’m about 95% sure he’ll do more
If he does more and I mean more and it makes this team better then im ok. I have no faith in that. I still have nightmares of Lars Eller.

Good morning.

Have a good breakfast, digest this move, and come back to us with your thoughts.
On an emotional level, it f***ing sucks. I started following the Avalanche because of Mikko. He's my favourite player in the game. To see him leave my favourite team, sucks. Especially mid-season.

For the Avalanche, you can't really judge this trade on its own yet. Because there are going to be more moves coming, no doubt. We probably should reserve judgement until the deadline is over.

What I will say, is that this probably also indicates that the organization has 100% trust that Landeskog IS coming back, and coming back before the playoffs begin. Also that Nuke is returning. Yes, we got Necas, but he's not Mikko Rantanen. Landeskog boosting the winger depth would be paramount now that Mikko is not here.

Sure, but these players are not as involved as some of you might think. They really just let their agent handle everything and try to block out the noise.

It's his choice he's taking the advice, shooting for the most he can get.

If not, he could fire him, and a lawyer as most agents are, are not going to hold back contract offers. It would be illegal in their profession.
