Just as an aside, what the f*** is Chicago trying to accomplish on this trade? They trade Hall AND retain 50% of Mikko for just a third round pick? What the f*** is that?
I don't believe in a MacKinnon cap, but I do believe the person to break it should be Cale Makar and not Mikko Rantanen.I would really like to know what the final offer from the Avs was. If they didn't even get to 12s, there was serious lowballing going on. If Rantanen camp insisted on more than MacKinnon, good job by CMac. Objectively, looking at the cap and other contracts around the league, Rantanen can argue he should be getting around 13M on an 8 year deal. But I think I said in some earlier thread, that I think the Avs should hold firm on the MacKinnon cap. It doesn't have to be fair.
More to come.Just as an aside, what the f*** is Chicago trying to accomplish on this trade? They trade Hall AND retain 50% of Mikko for just a third round pick? What the f*** is that?
You’d think he has to, right? We’re kinda incomplete now.I hope Cmac drops the other trade today or this weekend. We know he's not done. Please don't blue ball us.
I've noticed everyone is leaving Parssinen out of their lineups too. Do people realise we gave up TWO picks, one being a 2nd or 3rd rounder (forget which one).I think Drury will become the 3C. Aint no way Parker Kelly is better.
Most people felt this could happen. Its not that shocking to be honest. When that 14 mill number came out most here saw the writing on the wall.HFAvs is taking this shockingly well. Never thought I’d see the day this place is more positive about something than the Avs subreddit
Most babies fall down a lot already. I wonder what this one would do.Did he shit the bed a lot?
It sucks to lose someone like him but that is the reality of the cap world.HFAvs is taking this shockingly well. Never thought I’d see the day this place is more positive about something than the Avs subreddit
This place being downright rational will never be anything other than shocking but fully agreed on the restMost people felt this could happen. Its not that shocking to be honest. When that 14 mill number came out most here saw the writing on the wall.
I love it, set an example"I really thought they'd pay me what they told me they couldn't pay!"

We’re all angry and bitter here but we’re also realistic (often too extreme pessimism).HFAvs is taking this shockingly well. Never thought I’d see the day this place is more positive about something than the Avs subreddit
That's absolutely false. When in reality I remember name calling between him and Lehkonen having beef because Lehky’s dad called out Mikko.
Im the only one not taking this well but that shouldn't come as a shock lol I had to pull over as I heard the news coming down the wire live on the radio. First they said Taylor Hall to Carolina and then they said Rantanen is also getting traded. This place being downright rational will never be anything other than shocking but fully agreed on the rest

especially considering he has to ok the tradeI would be. This isn't the first time Mikko has been stubborn in negotiations. If he had no idea, then he's absurdly dumb.
he had to be to approve the destinationBased on his latest comments, I don't really think Mikko was at all concerned where the contract negotiations were. He said that he's not the only player in this situation (Marner), and that not everything reported in the media is true. This was two days ago. It's safe to say this caught him off guard.
Like I said, ultimately the blame lies on him. That doesn't mean he was aware of the situation.
I thought he didn't though because Carolina wasn't part of his 9-team NMCespecially considering he has to ok the trade
