Thank you Ken Holland for showing your wisdom and restraint. Let’s save our first for the TDD and get our Roloson. Smith, koskinen and stalock will secure us a comfortable playoff spot. Rookie mistake Sakic. Vegas favourites in the west for now.

Does everyone seem to forget that they were able to keep Landeskog after an arduous negotiation? That’s the main reason they had to play harder ball with Grubauer. I think Sakic’s off-season has been just fine all things considered and given the way things played out over time.

I don't think Timmins was going to get the minutes or role he needs to become anything special. Could see him blossoming in Arizona though.

He would have played top four minutes this next season.
On a team with Makar, Girard, Byram and Toews? Ummm. No.

And if EJ is healthy, Timmins 6th D. And he doesnt PK. Now MacDonald is 6th D. Barron and Helleson join Avs next year. Both RHD like Timmins. Avs loaded at young RHD. By far their best position in the farm system. Got a nice LHD in round 2 this past week.

Avs have cap space to add another defender too. Or better, a cheap one year deal on someone like Tatar as a ring chaser.

He could of had Fleury, Lehner, Price to name a few over the last few years. Sure Price has a horrible contract but he would of given the Avs a much better shot at winning a cup.

Fleury is contemplating retirement and Price costs 10.5M (if they were willing to go 10.5 for a goalie, they'd just go with 5.9 for Grubauer).

The 30th to 32nd overall pick + B prospect for Kuemper with 1mil retention.
Not a bad price because Colorado is expected to win a cup and needs win now moves not a 1st round pick who won't make a impact for 3 to 4 years from now.

Sakic had little choice and clearly was robbed on the deal.

Kuemper might be injury prone on a 1 year deal, if healthy is among the best Goalie in the league. AVs fans should remember their memorable playoff meeting, although, they nearly swept AZ, they pounded him with 40+ shots per game. Not only keeping games close, his competitiveness tried to win as they were clearly overmatched.

AVs are still stocked. I preferred to keep the 1st, but the large stockpiled players can immediately help instead of waiting a few years for the pick to develop. Timmins being sacrificed after waiting years to due to concussion symptoms can be replaced with Barrons/Helleson after EJ retires in 2 years.

Overpayment, but a deal that needed to be made rather than waste another season.

I wasn't talking this year I was talking about the last few years.

Thats why I said they might have a cup already.

The Grubauer situation is a little confusing - seems like some mismanaged assets here, but Kuemper is a #1 and they didn't lose anything off their roster so it's not a loss. Just ... confusing.

Downside is less the pick itself and more losing ammo for the trade deadline.
