I really like this show. I don't quite know how to spot it genre-wise, but it is fun TV.

A few thoughts on Season 3.

- I think the way they brought Ali back was very well done. Probably wouldn't change a thing about that.

- I am totally down with the competing dojos element of the show. There is a point though where it can get into the unbelievable. The fight at school in season 2 was just right. I can see one unhinged jealous badass picking a fight and it spiraling out of control.

The breaking into Daniel's house and having a full on raging glass shattering fight where actual violent outcomes are intended is too much to me. As is the Kreese attempting to kill Daniel with a piece of glass.

I know those who disagree will chalk it up to 80's schlock, but it doesn't fit in the world of the TV show, to me.
Im a big fan of the show and am aware that while watching you have to suspend logic a bit in order to rationalize all the dramatic scenes but the home invasion and then attempted murder of both Johnny and Daniel was a little much. Its kinda hard to believe that Krease or Cobra Kai students don't face some form of legal trouble for a home invasion.

Don't get me wrong, the scenes were really entertaining to watch. You definitely have to put realism in the backseat for shows like Cobra Kai and the Mighty Ducks to fully enjoy them.

Yeah the school fight pushed the limits on realistic scenario, but the house fight was too much. Throwing people through kitchen windows and breaking furniture over people was eye rolling

It's so ridiculous I couldn't finish the last season, I know I'm not supposed to take it seriously but it kind of takes me out of the moment. I think they had a good show without the nonsense.

You just have to use the Harry Potter excuse.

E.g. there's no story unless the kids are in harm's way while the adults are basically obvlivious.
Or the Xena excuse.

It was like watching the Nights Watch and the Wildlings fight in Castle Black

I don't know why they rushed the tournament into the first season and had Miguel win already

Perhaps they werent sure if they would ever have more seasons to have the tournament, or they just couldnt come up with something better for the first season. Either way, Miguel winning is ridiculous

Why is Miguel winning ridiculous? How is it more ridiculous than Daniel winning in KK1?

Because he was months in to starting karate for the first time when people hes up against would be people training for years, moving thru the belts. That legit doesnt sound ridiculous to you?

Re-read the second part of my question.

They did the same thing in Karate Kid 1.

It is unrealistic, but it is a goddamn movie/tv series. Narratively it worked perfectly and that is all that matters.

I dont think I ever mentioned Karate Kid 1. Can you find my post that mentioned it? Lot of pages and you probably have an idea of where it is

Jesus f***ing Christ. I mentioned KK1. Implying that you probably thought it was stupid for Daniel to win against experienced people too...

? You are being a douche bag on purpose? This is really confusing now, so you agree that Miguel winning is in fact ridiculous? You wanted to argue to....just argue? hear yourself talk? be an asshole for fun? Why dont you just say what you actually mean, cause I dont recall ever once mentioning Karate Kid 1 but you are implying im implying about it? f***, I hope this is once off for you because I continued to never mention Karate Kid 1

It is pretty simple to understand.

You think Miguel winning is ridiculous because he is fighting people with years of experience.

I am saying that you must hate the original because Daniel had no experience and beat Johnny who was a seasoned champion.

The tournament in season 1 was basically a retell of the original story but with a different outcome. Miguel won with a cheapshot. No mercy, just like Johnny taught him... and he wins against Johnny's son. It made Johnny realize that he might be not teaching the right things to kids he genuinely grew to care for. That's the story and the story makes a lot of sense narratively. It is really all that matters.

The fact that Miguel has no experience is just a sports movie trope. It is always like that. Little Giants beat the Little Cowboys. Ducks become champs when they could barely skate half way through the season. Daniel beats Johnny in KK1. Robbie has no experience either, btw. Neither would even be allowed to compete against black belts in real life.

So, my point is that you must hate a lot of sports movie if you really care about Miguel winning being ridiculous. It is ridiculous in real life, yeah. It does not matter at all in the context of the story. I mean, only Robbie going to juvie for the fight at the end of season 2 is ridiculous too. Heck, the whole feud is over the top and cheesy... and that's why the show is fun.

So much drama  No issue with Miguel winning, it redeemed Johnny somewhat that he could coach someone to that level

If you want to complain about the show complain about the inaccuracy of a high school fight with no interference, or the fact that the police barely exist in the series

The series isn't perfect but Miguel winning s1 shouldn't be one of the complaints of the series.

Daniel was able to compete agt black belts because while Mr Miyagi was scamming the guy who registered them, he stole dude’s black belt and slipped it to Ally.

Then Daniel won because Mr Miyagi used his demon sorcery.

So I found KK1 to be pretty realistic.

Fair point about that part.

Him WINNING is still not realistic at all... and it does not matter.
