Wasn't expecting this. The last bullet on Lou's gun.

This is not a 12-17-7 squad, and the team was on a downward spiral towards another agonizing second half of the season, correct move at the correct time. Now give Josefson first line minutes please.

Well, now I'm definately going to Monday's game.

Wellllllllllll overdue to pink slip Pete.

Relief that he was finally axed.

It'll be hilarious to hear the automatic ovation the next coach gets. Unless it's Tort anyway.

I wonder what Larsson would say if he was injected with truth serum lol

The WAS with Oates played nothing like the NJD. Oates was like an assistant for 2 years under Pete. You think his entire system is based on those two seasons with Pete?

Nice to know you didn't bother watching any Caps games. Thanks for playing.

i don't think its a good team either... josefson got more time this year not saying he has been given the most opportune chances but has not done anything to deserve a ton more ice time than he is receiving... that being said he is young with speed and a decent skill set would like to see what he can do with some top wingers

It'll be interesting hearing the player reaction to this....especially Jagr.

Very much so. The new HC will be even more dramatic due to the situation the roster finds itself in.

Jagr seemed to rely love the system and Deboer and Deboer basically gave guys like Jagr, Elias a lot of leeway and support.

But Jagr did seem to kind of take an innocent or at least perceived swipe at Deboer in the last week about the practicing issue.

Eh. Not really for or against this move. Coaching wasn't our biggest problem. We'll wake up tomorrow and see that our roster is still dreadful. Peter Harrold getting 12 games is not why we are where we are.

Having the same coach for more than a season and a half was fun while it lasted.

I'm curious as heck to see who's behind the bench tomorrow night. I wonder if it will be an obvious stopgap interim, or a veteran coach. I wonder of it will be a Robinson-esque players' coach, or a more fire-and-brimstone hardass.

i def believe it'll be censored, and i bet that's part of what lou's talkin to them about. if anything, you'll hear them react to the new coach, carefully choosing their words and presenting only obvious things to us, like "obviously we weren't winning for whatever reason" or "we were plagued with injuries, but hopefully we'll all be healthy soon" or "new strategy", etc

Right move. Want to start fumigating this season out and this was the first step.

Happy Boxing Day. Now keep cleaning out the old, assess what we have, and let's start fresh.

A good coach shouldn't have a pre-defined "system" they should adapt to the players they need to use. That's the biggest downfall for PDB, a lack of adaptability to a rapidly changing game and roster.

True, but most coaches have principles and a philosophy that is their bread and butter and hallmark.

It's not I like or don't, it just doesn't make much sense to me...there is no salvaging this season and Lou shouldn't be trying to.

What's the point? The team still sucks as much today as yesterday and not much will change...so I just don't get it.
1000%... Not much anyone can do with a poorly constructed roster
