Lou won't go behind the bench this time.

If its a stopgap, it will be Barr.

Regardless, I think this decision today will show wholeheartedly what direction this team is going in. If it's a McLean or even a Bylsma then we are gonna try to salvage the season. If it's a stopgap like Barr... then the race for McDavid/Echiel continues

Someone else will hire MacLean if we don't get to him ASAP.

Let them, apparently Ottawa fans have the same criticisms of MacLean we have of Pete (with Zibanajad being their Larsson and Chris Phillips being their Salvador).

No matter who is hired, an emphasis on getting younger and building for next season should be our #1 priority.

Right now Lou is the happiest man on earth. He knows something that we don't, and that we're all dying to know. He must be grinning like a cheshire cat.

If it's anyone other than Oates I'll do an avatar of the new coach for a week lol

That's just too Lou for me not to think he'd do it as nonsensical as it is. Lou wants someone familiar (there aren't many of those guys left willing to take the job with Lemaire in retirement and Larry 3000 miles away) and someone he can have influence over. He also apparently wants someone to maintain the Pete system that isn't Pete. And the Oates rumors look more solid than Chere going around the players' lunch hall shooting the breeze.

Not that I am endorsing these candidates, but if you go to hockeyreference.com the top 6 coaches by winning percentage that are available to coach this team are as follows:

1. Lou .689
2. Bylsma .670
3. Carbonneau .589
4. Sutter .584
5. Oates .565
6. Maclean .553

Well if he isn't picking an interim and if he is picking someone long term (like on a 3 year contract) he better make the right choice for this organization because it could be his last coach that he ever picks.

58 minutes and counting to the morning skate. I guess Lou's meeting with the players is at 10:00 am and then the curtain opens at 10:15 am with the coach appearing before our excited players. A 15 minute pep rally speech ensues and then we work those holiday pounds off with some sprints (Pat Burns style).

If that's accurate it's hilarous actually. Basically everyone that's either coached here or been mentioned for this job with the exception of Carb (who one poster brought up a couple weeks ago and I kind of liked the idea after looking at his record, but I don't know what kind of coach he is system/player management wise).

Eliminate Boucher, Paul Mac, Martin and Bylsma. Boucher in Switzerland, Mac is still sens property, Martin works for pens (scouting Jagr? in jersey) and Bylsma is covering WJC.

Carbonneau, Oates or Barr or Foligno and "darkhorse" Killer Kowalsky. Long shot? Brylin.

This just negates cheres article of maclean

How can anyone take him seriously? Lou bashers have found their voice in the media, his article was a cut and paste from a message board. maclean is still Sens property.

Sidenote: I love when Sour Shoes (mike from mahopac) calls in to the popes show. Some of the funniest radio.

if it is interim, no problem with sticking with guys who know the organization. Lemaire was a good fit because of it and Oates knows plenty of the roster.

Just don't be a permanent move.
