Lets be realistic, Oates when here had the team in top tier for faceoffs and the pk/pp were top ten. Stevens is a work in progress. Oates and Stevens as well as Robinson at the helm is pretty special.

Pete was a stubborn coach. When things would get tough he would go back to the 2012 guys because that is the only success he had as a coach. I regret not calling him coach linus

I want a coach that shows some emotion that he cares. The last time you saw Pete get mad was at Torts. That was the only time you ever saw him get mad.

You can thank Schneider too for losing on his own games we had the lead. His short side is leaking like ive never seen before on any goaltender.

At this point i dont really care what Lou does. Whether he gets a new HC today, trades rest of the team for picks or young players. This team is a bust till 2018 with little to no chance of getting into playoffs. The NHL.com analysis of the Devils' situation is a brutal read. Worst asset management when you write it down. This is a good direction, Id like if Lou was fired and the new guy announces a strategy: Cup in 2020 or so. If we still continue to glue and repair type of status quo crap im just going to keep on skimming through highlights, no point in watching a losing team, losing franchise and a losing management try to survive. At least other ****** teams like Edmonton have a fast, sometimes entertaining young core, that is at least sometimes entertaining to watch. We dont. All we have is blueline redirections by Ruutu / some 4th liner and nothing else going on with first 2 lines. Coaching change is a good start, now lets see how rest of the stuff unfolds.

With all due respect, that's a mentality that I do not share. In a conference where - thanks to the 2 wildcard spots - 50% of the teams make it, It's not out of the realm of possibility that the Devils could rebound(Next Season, though) and make it there so I don't think we should have to wait that long(2018) for any playoff hockey.

I agree with this sentiment. I love this predictions of the three year gloom. Stop watching now and quit repeating yourselfs daily.

If it should turn out to be Stevens, that speaks volumes about the circumstances around his decision to leave this summer

I would sign up for Stevens over Oates as a HC even though he is a novice. Maybe he can implement Lemaire's system and we can improve our GAA and our shots against somehow.

All those sources for Paul becoming coach are from Chere. It looks like Lou found his rat on the ship.....

Stevens is there. Could easily bump one of the current assistants up and put Stevens in the assistant role.

Doesn't mean he is HC...we don't know yet.

Plus we know what Oates is (and how much like Pete he is). If you were going to bring in a noob like Stevens now's actually the optimum time to do it with a no-pressure second half.

All from last night, and it all links back to Chere citing speculation among Devils players. Whether it was actually a player or two's guesses or a front from him for his own guess we don't know and it doesn't matter, but either way it appears that he was again looking for attention/traffic with more meaningless BS

I agree, he needs to coach to win and if it means tightening it up so be it. Bring back Lemaire hockey!

Idk what system Steven could implement, but if he is intense like he was when he was a player, sign me up.

Dan rosen- How the Devils, in this day and age with modern technology and loose lips, can not have a real leak on this coaching story is amazing.
