Houston Texas settled claims with 30 Watson accusers.

So there could be still 6 more cases against Watson? And why would they pay as well if there was nothing going on?

To have it over with and not further damage the brand if the money is something that you can afford to pay.

Team settled with all 30 today

The legal expert they have for espn said they we’re screwed with the full time hotel that they paid for but deshaun only had access to

Usually teams have contracts and relationships with hotels for family members and friends who are in town, nothing like this.

Wait the Texans got hit with 30 lawsuits while watson had under 30 civil suits filed? Did I miss the number on watson increasing in recent weeks? I thought it was up to 26 for him with the majority being settled last month?

I believe there was 1 formal lawsuit (and the rest were ready to do it as well) but they settled with everyone because they thought there was enough to get it to trial

My guess is 8 games.

I found it interesting that the only players ever suspended for a full season are those who were convicted of felonies or who bet on football. So if she's using past suspensions as the precedent for what to do here, bet on this being less than a full season.

But what we don't know is if the NFL has told her they don't want past precedent to be the guide here. If the NFL is wanting to use this to set a new standard, the league should be asking for more than what has been done in the past.

The gambling stuff is outlined in the CBA too. You can only be suspended for an entire season for that.

Sorry, Cleveland. You deserve better than your team bringing this piece of shit in.
(Unless you’re happy about it, in which case you deserve a Wet Willy.)

I sit here waiting for the 4 game suspension Monday and the amount of anger from the internet

You know damn well this is a NFL business decision, they want him penalized as little as possible. They don't care about the allegations and never did. It's a business. Watson regardless of ethical concerns sells tickets.

People are really going to be mad tomorrow. And I'll be on the train laughing my ass off.

Interesting tactic here, they must feel confident it won't be too bad, basically challenging the league to not appeal
I mean, the appeal goes to one Roger Goodell for the final decision, so the NFLPA knows an appeal won't get them anywhere if the punishment is harsh, and it could result in harsher punishment if the punishment is light and the NFL uses the appeal process.

To borrow an analogy I head on sports radio on my way home tonight, the NFLPA has a slingshot and is asking the NFL to mutually put down their arms while the NFL has an uzi. There's no chance the appeals process lightens any penalty given out. There's plenty of chance that it lengthens it. So of course they're going to ask the NFL to not use it.

I suspect if the suspension is 8 games, the NFL may accept that even though they might like more so that they don't get the bad PR of overruling the mutually agreed upon judge, but any less than that and I suspect the NFL steps in and goes bigger via the appeal process that is heavily slanted in their favor.

They gave Tom freaking Brady, the greatest QB of all time, 4 games for allegedly maybe being generally aware of ball being deflated by a normal natural phenomenon.

If they give Watson the same for being a serial predator, they are even bigger clowns than I think they are.
