What is that obsession with having a president who's involved in hockey decisions ?

The GM should always have the last word on personnel (with feedback from his coach) and coaches.

Otherwise, there's too many cooks in the kitchen.

So, to answer your question, replace him with anyone as long as there is no meddling in hockey decisions.

Or if you have to have the President making hockey decisions, why pay two? Fire one and combine the job- President and General Manager and stop the stupidity.

Responding to this Sunday evening, 22 January, so I'm late to your post.

I'm no insider but quite agree. I hope matters unfold precisely as you wish. I feel bad, because I have always respected & admired Cam. But he is not suited for the position he presently holds.

Firing Chiarelli was a bad move, and classless besides. Firing Julien amounts to the same thing. It's effed up.

I can't believe I missed Dom's post that you're quoting. I got fired up just reading it.

My honest opinion is that the team's executive office/FO is clearly made up of a bunch of old, whiny, emotional, egotistical old men (see: Behind the B) that honestly don't have a ****ing clue what they're doing. The moves they make are based on visceral, uneducated reactions heavily weighed on the "attitude" and "style" of player, and their loyalties in players are unbreakable even if "their guys" are clearly an issue.

Just once, I'd like to see something logical happen. I've been a Krejci guy his entire career, but I was calling to explore a trade for him last season given the logic of it (injuries, past peak, easily hurt, had a high value given his early season point totals) but I'm 100% sure that option was never explored, because he is a player they are endlessly loyal to. It's the exact same concept with Chara. And a guy like McQuaid. It's not based on logic. It's based on some general concept created by the FO that completely discounts strategy and actually winning over players playing the game in a way that "satisfies" them.

I also think Claude has gotten his players to rely almost completely on a system and not on their hockey instincts.

Overall, I think a ton of people that are not players need to be shown the door. God knows if and when that will ever happen.

There is absolutely no evidence of this... it's just pure speculation from the hang Cam crowd

I am the leader of the hang Cam crowd and even I am with you. There are countless reasons to want Cam gone...you don't even need to pin personnel decisions on him.

Since day 1 Sweeneys work with the NHL team from signings to trades have been terrible. But his player development work has been quite good. He probably grades out as bad, but maybe deserving of more time. Neely grades out as terrible no matter what the criteria.

Live as a team, die as a team. I blame them all. Top to bottom have blame in this.

At least we helped get the Islanders going. Coaching changed looks to have helped as well. Time to put the hammer down.

Parcells negotiating with the Jets during Superbowl week is unforgivable.

Here on BruinsHF we have three distinct fanbases

1. We have many fans who live thousands of miles away but for whatever reason the Bruins became their team.

2. Fans who live closer to Boston or a NHL city and see the team play in person occasionally.

3. The hardcores that go to TD Garden either as STH or work at the games in some capacity.

Julian has signaled that he is willing to work through a rebuild unlike Doc Rivers who bailed on the Celtics. Claude knows that if the Bruins fire him he will have a new job in short order but he really likes his family situation in Lexington.

I say stick with Claude and rebuild.
