Why isn’t Askarov here? We in Western Canada chatter about this being a generational goalie.

Is this Bragin playing chess and Askarov will play at the WJC or Bragin being Bragin and preferring older players?

I respect Bragin as arguably the best U20 coach in the world. You’d have to think he plays his generational goalie in net at the WJC.

Askarov will play at the 4-nations in Helsinki which starts Friday. Bragin has divided WJC candidates into 2 teams. 4nations roster:

Yaroslav Askarov
Vladimir Galkin

Danila Galenyuk
Ilya Gatiyatulin
Grigory Gryaznov
Daniil Zhuravlev
Vladislav Leontyev
Daniil Misyul
Shakir Muhamadullin
Alexander Romanov

Arseny Gritsyuk,
Yegor Chinakhov
Grigory Denisenko
Pavel Dorofeyev
Alexander Zhabreyev
Demid Mansurov
Kirill Marchenko
Ilya Nikolayev
Danila Popov
Alexei Pustozeryov
Nikita Rozhkov
Alexei Tsyplakov
Dmitry Sheshin

Askarov plays for his VHL team, so they will need him after this short break.

Right. Generational goalie, take care of him.

He’s entering the NHL as an 18 year old goalie following the 2020 draft. Askarov is the most decorated goaltender internationally in history entering his draft year.

We in Western Canada have long been the heartland of hockey, we recognize greatness. Askarov is the McDavid of goalie prospects.

You have Tretiak’s successor in Askarov, he’s that generational level of a talent.

I am pretty sure he is under contract for next season. Not a chance he is in the NHL at 18.

Beautiful sequence. This has been a fantastic back and forth game.

3-3.

Overall, I'd say, Team Russia looks way more creative, than Canadians, but does some stupid mistakes. Canadians look boring, but do less mistakes and lethal in counter attacks.

Another entertaining game, should be an exciting third period.
