Lots of physicality early. Love seeing that and guys playing the Canadian way on the forecheck.

1-0 for Russia after the 1st, good physical hockey so far.

This Russian teams looks like a typical Bragin coached team. Strong fundamentals and commitment to defensive hockey. His teams always have a scrappy element to their defensive play and systems.

Pretty good game so far. Very physical! My kind of hockey. Team Q needs to play better in the second.

Anyone watched Savunov this year? He's a ghost online but having a good year.

1-1! Fortier ties it up for team Q. Team Q leaning on their goaltender Gravel who is playing a great game.

3-1 now.

Lavoie has been excellent this game, nice to see an Oilers prospect play well. He’s making a solid case to be on the team at the WJC.

Great play by Khovanov, Russia scores with five seconds left in the 2nd to cut Canada’s lead to 3-2.

This has been a pretty entertaining game

The big names on Canada have been the best players on the team, which is good. I agree that it's been entertaining. It's interesting that Hunter is actually on the bench for these games.

Khovanov is just crazy good. 2nd primary assist, 2+2 overall and 4-3 Team Russia. Zavgorodniy with 2+1. They will both play at WJC... I mean, they should play for sure.

Not very impressive from the QMJHL team, but at least none of those defencemen (Barron was alright) will be at the WJC. Some of QMJHL's bigger names put up points but I'd like to see better overall play from the players who might actually play in December.

I understand, that Russian players mostly jetlagged, still, Khovanov and Zavgorodniy look like the best players on it. Morozov and Podkolzin will show more, probably, in coming games, when they get in shape.

Interesting numbers for the goaltenders playing in this series. Ironically, the goalie with the best numbers over the last 2 years is undrafted.

Why isn’t Askarov here? We in Western Canada chatter about this being a generational goalie.

Is this Bragin playing chess and Askarov will play at the WJC or Bragin being Bragin and preferring older players?

I respect Bragin as arguably the best U20 coach in the world. You’d have to think he plays his generational goalie in net at the WJC.
