I don’t see how Colorado could swing this without Newhook. Especially since the coyotes tried to pry him out of there before with the Kuemper trade and Sakic didn’t budge.

This offer is essentially saying that the difference in value between Chychrun and Kuemper is only Olausson. Which is obviously quite goofy. I mean, I don’t even see a way to salvage it. Colorado isn’t going to add their ‘24 1st also. That’s three 1sts in a row going to us. Lol. Adding Helleson doesn’t even move it anywhere near close to “stop and think”. There just isn’t an offer I can see them putting together that I’d even consider.

So I’m saying I agree that Colorado doesn’t have the pieces because they aren’t giving up Newhook. He’s literally the only piece that starts a conversation. Nothing else would. And they’re not going to offer him. I’d bet $500 that Chychrun will be the superior player of the two every year for the next five years, though.

I wouldn’t give up an asset for DeBrusk. But it sound like some teams would.

Insiders are saying the price on Phil is only a 2nd.

BTW - as much as that proposal sucks - and it does suck - I dare you to propose that same deal to B’s fans. 90% will turn it down and be pissed off that you even had the nerve to propose it.

For Kessel, the price is spot-on. He's not worth more than a 2nd.

Chychrun will undoubtedly be the better player of the two, but IF Byram ever comes back healthy the Avs then have a LHD of Toews, Chychrun, Girard and Byram. So moving Newhook from an area the Avs are lacking (young forwards) to a place where they already have great depth is likely why they don’t pull the trigger on a Newhook centered package. Which as you said doesn’t incentivize AZ to make a deal.

NRD said on his pod yesterday that it might be LAK & NYR dropped out because of price issues. Said that if FLA puts in Lundell, LAK has to put in Byfield and they won’t do that. And that NYR just can’t match Lundell because they don’t have one.

Again, I don’t believe Lundell is in there. Deal would be done if he was. But it’s still tantalizing to hear insiders keep speaking about it like Lundell is actually possible.

I wonder if there’s a deal where Chychrun returns Hayton but there are other pieces added to address this? Like maybe Byram and Hayton? Or Girard with Hayton and Kessel (@3.4aav)? Something extremely convoluted like that.

We’re probably going to go down a super improbable rabbit hole, BUT we’re on a fricken message board so why the heck not.

I was told Az would have no interest with Girard when I put him in other trade hypotheticals, so I guess I would need clarification on as to why Girard now fits the bill.

Girard makes zero sense in a Chychrun deal. But Newhook makes a tremendous amount of success. Pieces outside of that are about facilitation more than fit.

Can't see Carolina giving up Jarvis, somewhat similar, but not the full extent of Florida not giving up Lundell.

I think a lot of people here are forgetting BA doesn’t have to move Chychrun. If he doesn’t get an offer that he is looking for just hold him and try again next year.

I’d rather hold than pull the trigger for Swayman and throw-ins or Knight and throw-ins.
