He hasn't been part of the problem, dude looks as advertised and is one of the few players who emit that ultra competitive vibe. I don't blame him for wanting out, this core is full of babies and will go nowhere.
Is that the consensus ? I can't pretend to have watched the Sens beyond highlight packages this year (I live in Europe) but I haven't read many high praises about him from Sens fans.

Sens fans weigh in? Has Chychrun been a bright spot this season?

Ottawa was finally set at LD position with Chabot and Sanderson in the top 4, why did this meathead think adding a 3rd top line LD would make them a contender?

Hindsight is 20/20 but if Pierre bad been replaced by a log then the team could have drafted Bowen Byram, Kevin Korchinski and like Zach Benson instead of having a year each of Duchen, DeBrincat and now Chychrun

The log probably would have drafted bpa in 2021 too instead of Tyler Boucher too lol, my god who let this man GM for 7+ years. Comes out of the gate hot trading Zibanejad and a 2nd for Derrick Brassard and gets worse every year

Okay, I see Jeff grew up there. But, this is still by far the most liberal usage of hometown I've seen. It'd be like saying Brady Tkachuk's hometown is either Winnipeg or Boston.

I've never seen anyone referred to their hometown being where their dad grew up and there grandparents live.
And his sister, and lives at the cottage 30 minutes away all off season, but ya no ties to Ottawa like you said earlier.
Probably take the L and move along.

This dude is going to spend his whole career thinking the grass is greener somewhere else and by the time he's smart enough to realize it's not it'll be too late. Sad.
He's played on a total of two teams and except for maybe Buffalo there's no other teams in the league that have been run with anywhere near the same level of incompetence

Jesus, that’s actually worse than Benning. I didn’t realize he was also responsible for Zib for Brassard.

This guy has broken a ton of Sens news over the past couple years. He's had a couple misses but is pretty solid. Pagnotta reported basically the same thing last week
Ya he’s just the spitballing what has been reported for a couple of weeks. So plagiarism might be a better word for him.

I was wrong on the no connections part, but that doesn't make it his hometown, and it's a weird way to phrase it. His hometown is Boca Raton.

How long before guys like Stutzle want out of Ottawa? I don't think Chychrun wanting out won't be the only domino to fall.

No rush in moving him, what if all of a sudden the Sens do well next season and he is happy. I don't think he moves at this deadline.
But yet just say the owner was willing to retain a %. He could haul in something you couldn't refuse. Retained he's be the top guy on the market.

Hey Sens fans, besides a defensive replacement for him and a goalie (presuming some of you have soured on Korpisalo, we don't have a goalie to spare among Demko/ DeSmith), is there anything else you're looking for in return if Chychrun gets traded?

Presuming the bidding starts with a 1st, a D-replacement (one of Soucy/ Zadorov, basically anyone not named Hughes/ Hronek from our blueline) and a prospect (reluctant but may become open to trading a blue-chip), what would need to be added for him to don the Canucks blue and green?

Don't really need a D. Replacement. Ottawa has way too many similar left-handed D men.

Likely looking for one good future piece. A 1st or a good prospect. Along with maybe a reclamation project type player, even one with negative value due to a poor short-term contract. Mostly to make money work and create a bigger market.

Then maybe a secondary piece, 2nd, B prospect etc.

They're using it in quotes. It was talked up that he had family roots there when he was traded and was part of his choice in agreeing to go there

you could count debrincat as the first.

it's starting to look like calgary where they had to let go of fox, gaudreau, and tkachuk.
Fox is a bit different. A non-first round pick at Harvard going to UFA or threatening to isn't particularly uncommon regardless of the organization. We saw it with Vesey and Kerfoot too.

I don’t have a problem with what you’re saying now, blame the tweeter I guess.
Maybe that’s why hometown was in quotes, when parents, grandparents grew up there, and siblings live there.

It's fun to dump on the Senators, and at the moment it's deserved.

I still think they can flip Chychrun for (almost) what they gave up for him. The Coyotes were hamstrung at the time because they weren't willing to take on money. Theoretically new Sens ownership could retain and/or take bad a contract if it meant optimizing the return.

Obviously they aren't getting a top-12 pick back, but Chychrun at 50% retained could still return a later 1st+2nd+prospect/young player, imo. He's been better than advertised offensively and when he gets to play the left side he's been okay defensively (far less of an issue than anyone not named Sanderson). Now the bit about him being able to play the right side seems like a crock because he is a tire fire over there, at least in Ottawa.

This shouldn't be the DeBrincat situation all over again, if they play this right there should be a long list of teams looking for a top-four LHD who can carry the offence from the back end.
At 50% retained if it's a later 1st i see a good prospect being added especially if a top contender ,
1st -- Have a need for him
2nd ---Could absorb the other 50% of his contract.

I don’t have a problem with that, blame the tweeter I guess.

yeah, it's just weird. I'd find the same thing if they tried it with Brady Tkachuk since his dad is from Boston and I believe they summer in Cape Cod (on top of spending a year of university there). Just seems like a weird angle to play up.

It's also because he's spent every summer of his life at the family cottage at White Lake, about 20 minutes from Kanata.

He will also go down as one of the worst GMs in history.
All GMs of canadian teams will go down as the worse in history, but it's just a giganormous coincidence and has nothing to do with the shitty situation that canadian teams are put into in the cap era.
