Rumor: Chychrun has Soured on Ottawa, Unlikely to Extend

I don’t see the fuss. With Sanderson and Chabot signed long term he likely wasn’t staying anyways. I know he can play right but I wouldn’t sign someone long term to do it. Someone wrote an article about him being the most likely to be traded of the top four due to this sometime over the last couple of weeks.

They’ll likely get a similar return for what they spent to get him. You go for the best players you can, it works or it doesn’t. I don’t see the problem with Ottawa making the effort to find out with this guy.

Why is this tweeter saying "hometown" novelty? He's from Florida, and as far as I know has no connection to Ottawa (his dad is from the MTL suburbs), and he played a bit of minor hockey living in Toronto.
His dad is from Ottawa and his grandfather still lives there I believe.

Well on the good news front for Ottawa, it didn’t really take long for competent management in Vancouver to turn things around. The only real lasting damage was the OEL deal right near the end of Benning’s reign of error. Had they fired him before that all the pieces would have been in place to build a good team with lots of cap space.
Fixed that for you.

His grandfather is in Ottawa.

We heard all about that when we got him haha

I imagine GMs are going to lowball Ottawa given how much of an injury risk he is. He goes on LTIR for 20 games again through the deadline and you better pray you can move him for the price you want before he walks.
He's played in 39/39 games this year, I don't think that'll be a major problem

His dad and him both have cottages, 30 minutes away, grandparents live in Ottawa, sister lives in Ottawa, his dad play junior there.
His dad grew up in Ottawa and played his hockey there, as did his mother.

But other than that, no connections.

Was a big reason Edmonton avoided him I think. Which means other playoff teams, which would be his market, would make the same assessment.

Should we listen to this source? Wouldn't other places be reporting this if true?

Okay, I see Jeff grew up there. But, this is still by far the most liberal usage of hometown I've seen. It'd be like saying Brady Tkachuk's hometown is either Winnipeg or Boston.

I've never seen anyone referred to their hometown being where their dad grew up and there grandparents live.

This guy has broken a ton of Sens news over the past couple years. He's had a couple misses but is pretty solid. Pagnotta reported basically the same thing last week
