This is two likely late 1sts and two recent 2nds. Zaitsev is worth a negative 2nd.

Chychrun for two 1sts (in value) and a 2nd (in value) is exactly what I’ve been expecting from the start. And that’s what this package is, in terms of absolute value.
I can see 2 late firsts as part of the package.

Eklund, yup, that guy, is reporting chychrun to Toronto for nylander, a 1st and some other stuff. Has it at an E4. Take it for what it’s worth.
Cant see the Coyotes being interested in Nylander. The 1st would need to be Knies or Sandin.

Knies, Sandin, and a 1st seems solid/fair all sides and just makes sense. 50% retention can be had for more assets? I bet Knies and even Sandin would want to play here.

Maybe if we retain and take back Holl so it’s cap-neutral, that would be worth something to them.

Chychrun is the only major roster piece out there on the market that can be had retained and also be a source of outgoing cap. I like BA's odds of getting a really great return.
He should hurry up and do it then!

Mid to late 1st 2nd and 3rd plus we eat a small cap dump. I really hope I'm wrong.

I'd be good with that. Let Armstrong and his band of merry men work their magic.
If all we get is picks, I'll be pissed. I don't want quantity. I want quality, and that is exactly what we should get. I want quality picks AND quality player. We have enough quantity.

I like the idea of fresh picks more than blue chip prospects. Teams cling to their blue chips and it takes up too much trade capital. The picks should help us get our own blue chips.

Picks are like playing pin the tail on the donkey. You have no idea where the pick will land up. Give me that blue chipper ever day of the week.

I'm really wondering if BA fully expects to collect and draft a ton of players over 5 seasons of a rebuild (two are finished). I used to believe he was getting as many picks as possible to use to aquire players in another two offseasons but now I'm not as sure. He may have some plan where there is a constant influx of ELC players to help with cap once guys like Cooley are owed big bucks.

I think the return on Chychrun will be telling which direction this build is truly going.

Shit value for a young #1 dman on a great deal plus a cap dump though. I worry the injury history and widely known fact that he wants out will really hurt his value.
If we only get picks back, we shouldn't have to take more than a small, one year cap dump. If it's anything significant, it should include an extra good pick imo. I wouldn't retain for anything less than a player we wouldn't expect another team to give up. Like someone that would take HF Boards down for a couple hours. Chychrun already has a good contract and he's not a talent or at an age that should require retention.
