That is not at all an impressive top 9

I like Sikura but feel he is starting to get overhyped here

Hayden/Hino are still ? and need to build off last season

AA is on decline and Saad/Toews are naturally both players that will be under spotlight

We still need another top 6 talent

Nobody claimed it was impressive, in this league very few teams have a top-9 that looks impressive on paper though.

Who would’ve said a top-9 with Lars Eller and Brett Connelly was impressive?

Guys can always take a leap forward, or just surprise in the playoffs.

It seems the Hawks are waiting to see if that will happen, and will just wait until the regular season (when Hossa’s cap hit is LTIR’d) to trade for an additional piece.

I personally like that top 9. Not where it is right now but in a couple years with the potential of the young guys I think it could look real nice. Of course it's a long shot and a couple of those guys could be gone, but who knows

Despite what Kunitz and Q believe, Kunitz was signed to be the 12th or 13th forward.

The top-9 is pretty much full, at least to start the season and assess where guys are at. JvR was way too expensive, and I think they want to see a top-9 with the guys below:

1. Kane
2. Schmaltz
3. DeBrincat
4. Toews
5. Saad
6. Anisimov
7. Hinostroza
8. Sikura
9. Hayden (I believe they want to see him in the top-9, and that’s why Hartman was expendable)

It doesn’t matter what he was signed to be. He is what Q plays him as.

We didn’t sign Handzus to be a second line center.

I think that’s what Stan was thinking as well with today’s signings. Make sure all those guys get a shot in the top-9, and leave the door open for Forsling to grab the second-pairing role.

Let Gus and Oesterle fight it out with Manning for the bottom-pair.

But like DHF said, Stan’s plans only go so far as Q can completely misuse some guys.

The irony is if you take the money and contracts away and just had a straight tryout Kunitz would make the team. That's how bad the forward depth is on the hawks.

Would Manning make the team? Probably not. That's how stupid that deal is.

Ten games into the season hawk fans will have had enough of Ward.

Bowman will be gone at the end of next season.

I hate every one of these deals, with the Manning contract as the worst IMO because of it being multiple years.

However, I will remind you all that we gave a slow, broken down Rozsival a similar contract several years ago when the cap, and our cap space, was much more limited. So at least the Manning deal isn't THAT bad. Though it still sucks.

Oh no, Manning = the new Rozy. God help us. Q is going to pair him with Keith.

Kunitz will be centering Kane by game 5.

Rozy was far from broke down when Hawks signed him to first contract

He was a strong vet #4 who could still play 19-20 minutes when he signed with Hawks

I know Rozy of final years was on decline but to pretend he was a bad signing in summer of 2012 is revisionist history

People were mad about that but largely because that was it. They wanted more moves but sure plenty people then wanted Kane, Crawford, and Q gone. But instead they got 3 outstanding years in a row.

Hey guys, huge Manning fan here. Oh, and the Hawks have been my second favorite team since I was a kid behind the Flyers. I still have my Dave Manson jersey hanging in the closet.

Please don't listen to all the naysayers regarding Mandog. He is a solid, 3rd pairing guy who will be used the right way by Coach Q. The price may have been slightly more than I thought he was worth, but he will fit in quite well with the boys. Great character guy, teammate, and will score a few points for you. His advanced stats were in the top half of all D-men who played last year.

Give him a chance before you bury him. Welcome to Chicago, Brandon!!!

Oh, I thought all Flyers fans wanted him gone. At least that’s what one of our Flyers fan experts told us.

People were happy with Rozy as a vet to play with Leddy and Hawks struggles to fortify 3rd pairing in previous two years

Thanks for the insights and kind words! Though I must say I LOL'd for a second when I got to the bolded part, considering what just happened with Kempny

You’re not doing well with blanket generalizations today, I’d suggest easing back on those.
I think he means. no, people were happy. But I don't know what the no is, I was merely saying the fans were mad thinking they didnt do enough and a lot seemed to think the rozy signing was just a minimal move.

Manning will show flashes and will make some stupid plays. I think it'll be frustrating to watch.

Seeing what John Moore got, I can’t help but feel like we missed out.

You can easily argue against the De Haan and Cole deals, but the money Moore got means his contract should remain tradable through its term.
