Yeah no we totally should have traded him so that Laf can get more ice time.

Chris Kreider is one of the best Rangers of all time.
If he continues to produce like this, and stays healthy, and is re-signed after this contract he will have over 400 goals all for the Rangers A lot of ifs, but Kreider is all about the ifs so he can shut the non-believers up.
RAISE #20 to the rafters NOW!

I asked Larry Brooks if he thinks Kreider will get his number raised to the ceiling when it's all said and done. He responded, "Today, I'd say no. Winning the cup would change the equation."

1. How many numbers up there ever won the cup?
2. Kreider will certainly get into the Top 5 of all-time Ranger goal scorers. Of the current Top 5 how many of them are up there?

I hope he never puts on another team's sweater and I imagine when he's due for another contract he would take less to stay in NY. He seems like that kind of player.

In the end I think #20 will go up there.

Holy crap 26 pp goals last year and only 6 this year. Even if he just had half the amount of pp goals that he had last year (13 of 26) he is a 40 plus goal scorer this year easy.

Fun little story -

back in 2013, The Rangers were playing the Bruins in the 2nd round and Torts was scratching Kreider for no reason and so on. Rangers lost game 3 at home. They were down I think 3-0 at that point, so it was all but over. After the game, everyone was filing out of the Garden and I recognized Kreider (who was scratched that night), walking with Jeff Gorton and Gordie Clark...they all kindly stopped for the Kreider autograph (unfortunately no one had a pen or marker that night...shame), anyway - I told Kreider that I hope he gets to play the next game.

Kreider scored the OT winner in Game 4 of that series.

I was excited about Kreider ever since he came into the playoffs the previous year, but didn't know I was meeting a future Rangers legend back then.

Then after Kreids scored the OT winner Torts got all snooty about it in the postgame press conference.

Actual question asked to Torts:
"Coach, do you think benching Kreider last game was effective and inspired him today, culminating in his OT winner?"

Question Torts brain hears
"Eyyyyyy Johnny boy, You think Kreider is more likely to score an OT winner on the ice or with his ass plastered to the bench? Suck a fat one."

He's probably going to finish 2nd, no less than 3rd in goals. He's already tied for the most post season goals, so he'll have that record too. He's going to go down as one of the franchise's all time greats. A Cup would be the cherry on top. Some people here have no idea how good guys like him and Mika have been for this team.

It's an interesting conversation, for sure.

He'll have better career numbers than both Hadfield and Graves who are up there.

I think a Cup would cement it. Gotta think Zibanejad might be in that conversation when all is said and done, too.

Always felt Torts held Kreider and Zucc back.

The idiocy of it was their biggest need in 2012-13 when they had the dominant first line of Nash-Richards-Gaborik was secondary scoring. Oh no! Gotta break up the dominant line because we have no secondary scoring!

Meanwhile, young Kreider and Zuccarello can't stay in the lineup. So glad we had Taylor Pyatt and Arron Asham though to save the day!

Never got the Kreider hate. We know he can be streaky he doesn’t make 10 million dollars a year. He has been ideal for our PK, and just scored his 30th goal of the season. Yeah he may have some concerns at ES, but still think he is playing through something.
Kreider leads the league in short-handed goals over the last 2 years with 7. It really makes me wonder why other coaches didn't use him in that capacity.

I remember Quinn putting him on the PK in the preseason one year, and saying something to the effect of "with Kreider's speed, he can be a weapon on the PK". But for some reason the experiment didn't last.

Brooksie needs to go write for his true team, the Islanders. I'm so sick of him.

When you have two guys leading the team in goals by a mile, while being a big factor on the PK, they really are underrated.

The guy is on track for 35 goals this year after 50+ last year. And yet all we hear on this Board is how we need to move him so we can pay under performing guys. The reality is his contract is pretty reasonable for his production. Sometimes I wonder if those that trash him know anything about Hockey. And I haven't even mentioned the other intangibles he brings to this team.

Will he get to 400 goals as a New York Ranger, or better yet, pass Gilbert at 406 goals?

A lot of variables. I personally do not think he gets traded. Does he re-sign after this contract? then for a fact he will be #1 unless Mika catches up to him.

1. 4 of 11, or 3 of 8 if you take out goalies
2. All 5. Camille Henry (just ahead of Kreider) is not EDIT - correction, CK has already passed Henry, my stats are out of date

Exactly. So while yes a cup would definitely help I think Chris doesn't really have to have one. He's a homegrown Ranger and perhaps (fingers crossed) a career Ranger. The numbers speak for themselves too. No one should wear #20 after him.

I'm anti number retirement, but seeing as it's a thing in NA, I agree.
I think his number will be retired, but the timing will depend on the Cup. Win one, and he goes up almost immediately post retirement. If he doesn't, it will take them longer to get around to doing it
