Bill Cook last played a game for the Rangers in 1937 and he's still 11th all-time in goal scoring in Rangers history. Two time Cup winer as a Ranger. Yet somehow his number 5 is not in the rafters and not only that but is being desecrated by Harpur on a daily basis. He has like 40 goals less than Kreider in about 300 games less.

Rangers have done a terrible job of recognizing their past like other teams.

Very true. It's like they would like that era to be erased.

What's the kreider talk? Dude is playing easily up to the contract. He doesn't look like he'll regress for two more years at least.
We have one more year of full NMC, then it's modified. And I'm certain team will gouge their eyes out in 2 year at the chance of trading for Kreider.

Just lean back and enjoy while he's here.
Awesome Post!!!!

This is so far from reality it's comical. The Rangers have retired 11 players numbers, 9 numbers in total because there were 2 No 9's and 2 No 11's. They do a very good job of recognizing their past.

My point is that we've got 3 Top 6 LW's, and 1 top 6 RW, the preference is to keep tarasenko, so you have to make at least one big move.

All of it lol. If they really need cap space they would probably unload Goodrow plus cap should be going up
Sure but theres potentially more difficulty in moving goodrow than kreider (NMC not withstanding)
Theres a better possible return for kreider than goodrow, and it nets us more space.
We also have laf who slides into that ice time.

I don’t agree with that. Again not sure why some want to break up Laf with that line. He fits well there and well they’ve tried him up with the top line it hasn’t worked. If it’s not broke no need to try and fix it. Plus the Rangers want to win next year so they are t trading one if their top goal a Peres and all around players right now makes little sense

That move will have to be Goodrow, as he's literally the only guy without a full NMC

It's hard arguing anything else, when you don't accept the NMC.

Kreider just can't be dealt, not until the 24-25 season. That's it. Imo we can fit Tara, when trading Goodrow.

No it's not. The Rangers had a golden era of their existence that's completely ignored. Frank Boucher won 2 Cups as a player and a 3rd as GM/coach in 1940. He won 3 of the Rangers 4 Cups and if you didn't do the research yourself there'd be no way to know who he is because nothing at the Garden even mentions he existed.

Bill Cook was basically Maurice Richard before Maurice Richard existed. Not a hint of that at the Garden.

Bryan Hextall Sr. was one the greatest goalscorers in NHL history. Not a peep of that at the Garden.

Ott Heller and Ching Johnson were two of the most feared and stalwart defensemen in the league's history but who would know it walking into the Garden.

Neil Colville won a Cup as a leader for the franchise and in the Hall of Fame, but I bet half the people even here haven't heard his name mentioned not once by the organization.

The Rangers have done an OK job at placating some people but the most successful generation in the franchise's history is completely ignored. Yet if you enter the arenas in Montreal, Boston, Detroit, Chicago, and Toroto I guarantee you can learn about the storied histories and players.

Billy overrated trash Joel has a banner hanging in the Garden for crying out loud... because he played piano man there a few times instead of the athletes that played there on a daily basis and accomplished the highest feats in the sport of hockey in their time.

Also, I love Graves, but him having his number retired before some of the names above is a joke.

Yea you make a big move of moving someone from LW to RW and not changing back after two games if it doesn't work.

Your original post was that the Rangers do a terrible job recognizing their past like other teams. The Rangers have retired more players numbers than any team in the league other than Toronto and Montreal, and are tied with Boston. They probably should have honored more of the players from the early years but to say that they have done a terrible job unlike other teams is just wrong.

I hate the Billy Joel banner. Take it down already.

Because the Rangers with those teams have been around far longer than any other in the league. In 3 years the Rangers celebrate 100 years. Most of the other franchises in the league either haven't been around long or are a joke hanging on through revenue sharing.

Yes but as far as original 6 teams are concerned they are right in the middle as far as numbers retired.
