I just addressed this in the roster building thread. People were penciling him in on the 3rd line before the season started based on his body of work to date, the desire to get Laf into the top 6, and the hopes for a more balanced lineup.

If you can find one person who has suggested dropping him to the 3rd line at any point from Nov 1st on, then I'll stand corrected.

We have people doing it TODAY. Just read the Roster thread.

@SnowblindNYR It was @mas0764 who wanted CK on the 3rd line as late as December this season, but to his credit he still wanted him on PP1, the logic was he was great on the PP but only ok 5 on 5. His 5 on 5 goals weren’t smooth flashy 1st liner goals so his theory was that he’d be able to do the same with Chytil centering him (when Chytil was shit) as Zbad.

I don't "want Kreider on the third line."

I think the best allocation of talent across three scoring lines to maximize everyone's potential would be putting Kakko with Strome and Panarin, and having Lafreniere with Zibanejad on his natural side, as Lafreniere's development is paramount to anything else and I think it maximizes his own production.

If Kreider can play RW thats fine, or he can play LW with Chytil on a nice size/speed line.

It's a good roster balance.

If others have an alternate opinon that's fine, but all these wanna bes who aren't NHLers but like to pretend they are while lecturing about their expertise are not really worth listening to.

I'm open to hearing many reasons why Kreider should stay next to Zibanejad. Stupid baby nonsense about how he's earned it or "you just can't," or "no coach would do that, I know, trust me," doesn't count.

He's the last of the old guard. He's also become quite a leader for the team.

I think Trouba is the only reason Kreider isn't wearing the C, and I wouldn't be surprised if that changes in the near future. Kreids with the C, Trouba with an A. The other A can go to whoever. Those two are clearly the leaders right now.
