I want him named Captain, but i also dont want to mess with the mojo this team has going.
There is always a fear in that but in this case I don't see it. If anything it could make him and the team even better. He has done everything one could ask for, he deserves it but he also wants it. Naming him Captain mid season could gel the team even more and galvanize them for a playoff run. People are scared of the 'weight' the C might have because of Leetch. But this is way different. Leetch had to follow Messier. Kreider already is the leader and has been for years and the vacancy makes no sense for a playoff bound team trending upwards. 2 years ago I was in the Mika C camp, but I love everything Kreider has become for this franchise. The way he is with the kids, willing to do everything for the team, never mind the absurd production this season. He was probably the leading choice prior to this season and is the longest tenured by far. If it's just a formality at this point are they saving it for the playoffs?

He was gifted with physical, durable abilities. He's 30 but we are now seeing the best of him and will probably continue to for the next couple of years. I wouldn't be shocked to see him win fastest skater at the ASG. The physical attributes have always been there. It was his mindset and maturity as described in the Brooks article.

He always came off as a bull in a china shop. So strong, fast, high energy that it almost was too much for him to finish. Age has slowed him down just a tiny bit and its all coming together. Stark contrast to all the prophesy's about him.

. CK is pretty unique when it comes to physical attributes and durability. Even though he is 30 he is probably in better shape than any player of any age. So That’s why I never had an issue with the length of the contract

What a special year Kreider is having. If the pace continues, will be the best year from a home grown forward in a VERY long time

I feel like he's kinda doing more with less this season
he's not constantly trying to fly down the wing on a rush or get breakaways or to carry the puck all over the ice or bull people over. He's just moving the puck simply and effectively and really excelling in front of the net. I think Fox being so good at getting shots through has let Kreider really clean up in front of the net as well

His game has evolved, which is great. One of the concerns when we gave him the contract was how he would produce as he gradually lost a step. He hasn't really lost a step at all but it doesn't even matter, because he has turned into a guy who doesn't depend on his speed to create offense.

I wouldn't expect this production to continue forever, but the fact that he's turning into this absolute monster around the net is wonderful.
