so over the last 3 years hes produced like a borderline first line player.

he'll probably get about 3-5 mil per year on his contract.

thats pretty much exactly what hes worth based on his production.

you may want more..you may expect more, but then youd be paying more.

paying CK say 4 mil a year for based on what hes already done is a very fair price....and i think most people believe he has a lot more to offer and can produce at a higher rate than he has...so even if what you see is what you get, its a fair deal, and if what you get is even more, then you stole him.

Again I absolutely don't think Kreider is a bad hockey player. Not by any stretch of the imagination. I think he has more value to us in a trade at this point though, because I can't see him scoring much more than 50 points while not providing much else. If we're looking for a LTD then he might command ~5 mill which I am absolutely not prepared to give him.

i guess it all depends on what you get back. im looking to upgrade the team...im not sure you can get fair value for CK...

I think he has a lot more to give, and this is a down year for him.

See, I don't. There's nothing about Kreider that tells me he can be better. It's obviously an opinion and a risky one at that, but I don't think this is much of a down year. I think it's mostly who he is. CK isn't Nash where the contract is large and you will need to take back a bad one to fit it. He's an RFA and that can be attractive to certain teams. Think the Saad return.

Anybody hear Steve V's comment regarding that Kreider should of went over to Lindberg after the goal to acknowledge his awesome pass instead of glass jumping after?

I guess that hit more that just a nerve with Steve V. Been reading comments from Ranger fans on other Ranger feeds that agreed with the ex Ranger goalies comment.

I didn't hear that but I thought it when I saw it.

Kreider isn't just struggling. This is who he is as a player. Some fans aren't able to see that his hockey IQ is low, his compete level varies greatly from night to night, and he's a one-trick pony when it comes to his speed/shot.

He's been in the NHL long enough to know what he needs to do to be successful, yet he only shows it when he feels like it. It's infuriating and frustrating to see.

You think he's untouchable from a trade perspective? To me, and many others he is far from that.
Untouchable? No. But very, very few are.

He is 25 years old. Do you know many young players that did not regress within their first few years?

We're speaking about two different things. You're referring to Kreider as having just regressed this year. My argument is that this is essentially the same player we've been seeing for the last three seasons.

To me, he hasn't regressed, he just is who he always has been. I don't see him ever putting it all together to become the player he could with his size/strength/speed.

the player he is, is a borderline first line player. those guys make 5-6 mil on the open market. look at Stepan.

Skills wise, I agree. He can skate and shoot. Thats what hes good at. Hes not a good puck handler, doesn't read plays well, and is spotty in the defensive zone.

That said, when you combine his size with the skating and the shot, there is seemingly room for production there. If he ever got his head out of ass, played in a straight line, and utilized those tools more consistently, we'd have a much better player on our hands.

Outside of ovechkin nobody scores that much these days.

People need to realize this. Last season, Benn won the Art Ross with 89 points. Only 91 players had 20 goals or more, which comes down to 3 per team. People expecting 20 goals out of top6 players should lower their expectations

I realize it just fine. Still doesn't provide an adequate excuse for how a guy with Kreider's physical gifts has just 12 goals in 58 games

Hardly the first or last time that a kid with his physical skills will have his goal scoring regress within the first few years in the league. It has happened before. It will happen again. I think that teams do not rush to dump such players at the ripe old age of 25.

Yes true he scored a huge goal and that`s important in hockey. He is still young - he can probably improve his skillset with or without the puck.. I felt he had some great defensive involvements in last game though.

It would almost be worth to have the Rangers trade Kreider, get garbage back, then have him just blow up somewhere else.....and sit back and watch the $#!+ storm place would become. HA!!

Goals in consecutive games aside, put me in the camp of not ready to trade him. I want to see what he does in this coming post season.

That wouldn't be almost worth happening, you need to get out more Pizza ;)

I think Kreiders best is still ahead of him, I wouldn't give up on his size and speed combo just yet. What he has is unique, bad decision making aside. Same with Mcilrath. You don't want to part too soon, especially when you've invested so many years in these players.

But who knows, the guys making these decisions know the teams pulse better than we do.

Yeah but haven't we said this since 2013? Is it ever going to happen?

He's picking up his end of season play. If I recall correctly, last year around this time he started to pick it up.
