I'd like to see Kreider moved over to the RW and see if playing an off wing can spark some better looks. When using his speed and driving towards his forehand shot, he'd be coming to the center of the ice rather than the outside.

Works for me....I had suggested that many weeks ago....why not ?

Horrible game (again), but gets lucky and scores the (undeserved) game winner.

I agree.... hopefully this big game winning goal jumpstarts him, because his coach can't

He was awful last night. He made plays like he had money on the game against the Rangers.

But here lies the frustrating part about Kreider, one of his great tools showed up for a shift, his heavy wrist shot, and he ends up with the GWG. In the playoffs his tools come out even more and thats when he tends to be the difference maker. Its hard to trade a young* guy like that. I dont want to be reactionary and make a short-sighted move. Certain power forwards really do take longer to develop.

It would be a big mistake if we trade a 6'3' 230b 24 year old kid who skates like the wind, is tough and a clutch player in the playoffs because he's having an off year in his 3rd season.

Especially for a guy that has 9 goals and makes 9mil/per

Still would trade him for players who are actually smart, and give a ****.
What makes you say that?

Just curious, are all players that are struggling considered not to have a good hockey IQ? Who else are you lumping him in with?

Kreider isn't just struggling. This is who he is as a player. Some fans aren't able to see that his hockey IQ is low, his compete level varies greatly from night to night, and he's a one-trick pony when it comes to his speed/shot.

He's been in the NHL long enough to know what he needs to do to be successful, yet he only shows it when he feels like it. It's infuriating and frustrating to see.

You think he's untouchable from a trade perspective? To me, and many others he is far from that.

I think, especially with Miller's emergence, he is one of the most likely players to go. I also think hes as dumb when it comes to hockey as a box of rocks, and thats being kind to the box of rocks.

Funny you say that about him, when it was Lundqvist who did not give a **** a few weeks ago.

I think calling any player "lazy" is usually a big stretch, even when it comes to Kreider. I dont think he's lazy - I think hes pretty dumb.

But saying a goalie doesn't give a **** is a whole different level.

Kreider doesn't do anything well except skate and shoot. And he doesn't combine those two enough to score. He's not on the PK, sucks on the PP, and is just "ok" at even strength. It's getting old. He's known what he's had to do to get points since his damn rookie season. And he's not doing it. Miller has figured it out and is running away with a top 6 spot on the Rangers since then. Miller's emergence makes Kreider's struggles even more frustrating.

I don't think Miller has made Kreider expendable, but Miller is better at hockey and the (warranted) frustrations with Kreider keep mounting. Some say that's good because we can lock him up for cheap. Don't know about you but I'd rather he play great and deal with the money later....

I think this is spot on, but still at 24 years old he should be able to get better so you don't want to give him away. He has a solid wrist shot, yet he barely uses it in the dangerous parts of the ice. He is a one trick pony in the offensive end. He should not be on the pp either at this point.

I wouldn't expect him to still get better and become a pk expert, his IQ and vision are what they are, but if he can add 1 or 2 more dimensions to his offensive game he can be a decent top 6 forward. Otherwise he'll be exactly what we see now.

Anybody hear Steve V's comment regarding that Kreider should of went over to Lindberg after the goal to acknowledge his awesome pass instead of glass jumping after?

I guess that hit more that just a nerve with Steve V. Been reading comments from Ranger fans on other Ranger feeds that agreed with the ex Ranger goalies comment.

Well over the last three years, obviously.

so over the last 3 years hes produced like a borderline first line player.

he'll probably get about 3-5 mil per year on his contract.

thats pretty much exactly what hes worth based on his production.

you may want more..you may expect more, but then youd be paying more.

paying CK say 4 mil a year for based on what hes already done is a very fair price....and i think most people believe he has a lot more to offer and can produce at a higher rate than he has...so even if what you see is what you get, its a fair deal, and if what you get is even more, then you stole him.
