There really shouldn't be a rush. I mean if Sutter was on the market, then yeah there is a rush to sign him. But he re-signed in LA. I think we're one of the only teams with out a coach so plenty of time to evaluate each option. It'll be done by the draft

Calgary is the only other team without a head coach.

we all know they're 99% likely to just stick with the walrus so why not just hire him already?

if they had wanted to hire someone new like green or richardson they would have sealed the deal by now

I could see them waiting for an assistant or head coach from any of the 4 teams left in either the AHL or NHL

I would be particularly interested in Sheldon Keefe. He coached Ritchie last year in Sault Ste. Marie and is currently coaching the Toronto Marlies. Considering GMBM interviewed Green, I could see Keefe also getting vetted for the HC position.

I like Keefe but I think I read that he is content in Toronto and does not plan on pursuing a HC position at the NHL level.

I have a hard time believing an AHL head coach would turn down an NHL coaching opportunity. Find the article you read and I can be convinced otherwise.

It really doesn't make a ton of sense, especially when there's zero chance of any kind of natural ascension in his current organization.

I have a hard time believing BM will hire a rookie coach to try and shape up this band of misfits. If he's waiting for anybody I'd guess Hitch.

I agree with you re: Hitchcock. Fits the bill of what GMBM is rumored to be looking for to a tee.

I think that the only way he gets fired is if San Jose wins. Which will be funny if they hire him, because he's been at least as big of a joke artist in St. Louis as BB was anywhere.

It's been a pretty successful postseason for the Blues to be honest. Hitch will be livid if he's let go and rightfully so, since they'd have beaten the defending cup Champs who've been a thorn in their side and would have gotten farther than any Blues team has for well over a decade.

The Blues have goaltending issues. Seems they just can't get consistent performances when they need it. It has been that way for a number of years. Now Hitchcock is doing the Allen/Elliot shuffle like BB did with Gibson/Andersen. And I really didn't like his comment about the team relying on Elliot too much.

Well, that could be 24 hours away.

I'm making no predictions other than I just don't see Bob hiring a rookie coach. Since there are no Babcocks available, and he just fired one of the most successful coaches in the league, there really is no stellar candidate based on a so called winning resume. But he knows he needs a coach who won't be afraid to yell at his best players when need be. So, if Hitch does miss the finals I could see him being interviewed. One intriguing thing about Hitch is that his contract is up this year. He could actually decide to leave without being shown the door, especially if another team showed a little more interest than another one year contract.

When is the last time that a 1A/1B goaltending duo won the cup? IMO, trust your personnel to make a decision, and then stick with that guy. Flip flopping and change doesn't do the team any good.

You could make a case that 3 of the 4 teams remaining this year have used a 1a/1b duo, but yeah it's not something that usually happens...

With Tampa it's out of necessity. With Pittsburgh they've gone straight back to Murray after realising their mistake. I'm not see what the hell Hitchcock is thinking, that switch may have cost his team the series.

IIRC, they only ever went to Murray because of a MAF injury as well.

Seems they're waiting, and I can't see them waiting for Hitchcock, especially since it's far from a given he'll ever be available. Also can't see Murray coveting him a whole lot given his playoff struggles since his Dallas days.

I think he's waiting to interview Keefe. Makes more sense to me than Hitch, anyway.

Unless Keefe has discovered magic in a bottle that he didn't want to reveal for the Toronto Marlies in his first year as HC, I can't see him being considered for the Ducks. He has no apparent ties to the organization. Dallas Eakins has a better resume as an AHL coach if Murray is looking to go the AHL route (though Eakins' route from the Marlies to Edmonton might be a cautionary tale for considering Keefe), and even a longshot in Travis Green once played for Anaheim.

Why do ties to the organization matter? I'm guessing they want who they think is the best coach for this team, I'm guessing any ties or familiarity don't matter.
