Anyone who has played at a high enough level knows how absolutely insane even the worst NHL players are. I've shared ice a bunch of times with current/former NHL and AHLers and it's like nothing most fans can understand.
Yep.

NHL players, even the worst of them, see and process the sport of hockey in a totally different galaxy than normal human beings.

Here you go:

You're welcome 😁

I'll believe a woman firefighter can put my 6'4" 215lb ass over her should when I see it.
You guys can't get out of your own way. If there is a standard (like getting drafted or making the team), and the standard is met, then the player deserves a chance to play.

Who cares if some firefighters can't carry your fat ass out of a building? Some can. Some can't. If they pass the test, they pass the test. Who cares if some of the tests are being reduced? Some aren't. It doesn't change my point about THE HOCKEY PLAYER WHOSE NAME IS IN THE THREAD TITLE.

People acting like every woman or girl can't do things because they know a woman who can't do the thing.

This woman isn't going to make the NHL, AHL, WHL... but she's incredible at hockey and she could and should play U18s, if she makes the team and wants to. Beyond that she has a bright future in women's hockey and it's a good thing for hockey if the PWHL succeeds and more people watch it and the international competition.

Dudes who can't appreciate good sports because "it's girls" are stuck in 7th grade.

Dude, I watch the LPGA. I also watch WTA tennis.

Probably more than you will ever watch the PWHL. Wanna bet?

Great job ignoring the point of my post. Congrats on your support for women's sports.
Really, this is about emasculating men.

Any idea who the guys/gals were who drafted her? I'd like to check out their social media to see what they're all about.

Personally my time is tight and I like to watch the best. I won't sacrifice my NHL time to watch women's hockey. I don't spend my time watching the Magnus League, although it is at a higher level, precisely because the difference in level hurts the eyes.

100%. I sincerely do not understand the opposition to this, and it is genuinely not unfeasible that Chloe could be good enough to play boys U18.

MPP was one of the best players on her boys U17 AA team before moving to women's hockey. The Canadian women's national team was over 0.500 in the seasons they played Alberta U18 AAA.

Chloe is an exceptional female hockey player. If she is good enough to play boys U18 AA or AAA and can make the team, let her try...not unlike when exceptional status is granted to 15 year old boys to let them play major junior.

In 2018 the USNTDP U17 team beat the US Women's National team 7-0.... in only 15 minutes of game time. It wasn't even remotely close.

There's really no reason for her to be continuing her career against men at this age.

She probably could play U18, I do not doubt that.

I was actually able to play the US Womens National team. They are very skilled but there is a massive disparity in overall strength. It was especially noticeable in any 50/50 puck battle. Positionally they were close to perfect. The game was just an exhibition and kind of a joke, a rep from their team came into our locker room before the game and told us absolutely zero body contact (which is understandable) and also told us zero one timers or slapshots, which I thought was odd.

She doesn't play u18 boys because it doesn't make much sense for her since she is really showcasing herself for colleges by playing in the best tournaments against girls her age. I mean she probably can go where ever she wants but man why not go to a school like rink or a top private school and get a top notch education so you can go to a top college and get a great education.

I have watched a lot of top end girls come up play u15 AAA boys and then try out for u18AAA midget and its really difficult for them because of weight. They can skate as well but the physicality part limits them. I am sure the top end ones like Chole could play u18 but why would she want to put her self through that. The only girl players I see that do play at that level are the goalies.

That's a terrible example.

A U18 AA or AAA team with Chloe on it is still effectively a boys team (with one girl on it) playing other boys teams.

The USNTDP team is effectively a USHL/CHL-level team. If Chloe is playing U18 AA or AAA, it's against other average U18 AA or AAA teams, not the top 0.1% of the boys hockey pyramid.

Makes sense for an exhibition, trying to avoid injuries (slapshots and hits). It's why many drop-ins or men's leagues look down on clappers and why most leagues are no-hitting.

My university's national champion women's soccer team lost to the men's water polo team in soccer. It's very well documented that women can't beat men at most sports with strength/explosiveness required, once everyone are adults. The U18 space is where it's hazy, and your experience is right on the money.

At any rate, her future is bright, I think we've covered enough real and zany clown conversations in this thread to let it slowly die out. I'll do my part starting now.

Pretty sure she is just gonna start at Minnesota a year early (aged 17), similar to Macklin Celebrini at BU this year... rather than jump back to playing boys/men. She's been playing against girls/women the last two seasons and hasn't played boys since she played on a team of 13 and 14 year olds two years ago.

For the same reason that any exceptional athlete does anything. To push the limits of what's possible.

If she doesn't want to play boys hockey, that's okay. My point is that she's exceptional enough that she should be allowed to try playing boys hockey without derision if she wants to.

Why do you have to judge people based on their preferences? There are many things on tv that i don't watch, women sports included. And it doesn't "make me" anything.

Thats only feasible if you are not going to get hurt doing that. A lot of these girls are 125 to 135 pounds at 17. Really fit but they don't have the same strength that a 17 year old boy has. Its why things like boxing or MMA have weight classes people get hurt

As much as I would love my girl to continue to play boys hockey, I also know someday in her best interest the time will come to stop

I think ven you have admitted there is next to zero chance she competes in this league.

So ...what else could this be about? Maybe publicity, or....
It was absolutely publicity and press, but there's nothing wrong with that.

They would have passed on the pick otherwise, the 13th round is a throwaway round where most teams just skip the selection.

She was a very, very good player in the boys league at 14, that's undeniable. She was good enough "at that point in time, without taking progression into account" to be taken at the end of the draft.

The Giants know she's never going to play for them. The selection brought tons of great press for the Women's game. That's a win in what would have otherwise been a skipped pick.
