What does Chicago think they are really gonna do?

So what is the point of having a list of 10 teams if its not enforced by the team? I mean i smell a legality issue here. Again i'm not too clear on if this is enforceable or not or if its more of a luxury the team allows the player to create.

I think he had already selected his 10 teams in the previous submission window, which Chicago was not on. Could have been teams last year that had more cap space, so he would be able to dodge those teams. Now that the cap space has shifted around the league, and rumours picked up that Chicago would want him - the idea was probably that in not wanting to leave Vegas, his new no-trade list would have Chicago on it. So they dumped him early.

I'm not overly familiar with the timing of NTC, but it makes sense to have specific dates to submit them, rather than being able to just update it every week or everytime you hear news about interested parties. Otherwise a 10 team NTC could effectively just block the whole league.

Hey Chicago, what do you want for Fleury 50% retained. I was dead set on the Avs getting Grubauer back but after seeing that scumbag organization trade Fleury and let him find out on Twitter I want nothing more than to pay whatever it takes to get him in Colorado 50% retained because I know that guy would play his absolute heart out after this.

What makes this funnier is CHI can choose to not honour the no trade clause after this move.

The ball ultimately stays in Fleury's court, as he can just retire and not play. But at this point he doesn't have any say in where CHI can or can't send him, if they want to flip him.

Fleury had a list of 10 teams he cannot be traded. Chicago was not on that list, so he could be traded there. Nothing unclear about this

If Vegas didn't trade him today his new list would've kicked in and the Hawks could've been on that list ( don't know about that ) .

"Prime"

Toews is mid 30s and didn't play a single game last season.

Past prime Toews but I bet both Toews and Kane had a talk with management wanting another run at the cup. These guys are winners and I can't see either of them happy on a rebuilding team.

Pretty shitty of an organization to let a player find out on twitter that they had been dealt.

Especially after being the face of the franchise since it’s first season, taking them to a cup final and two conference finals, winning the Vezina, and most importantly moving your family there. It’s slimy as hell.

Sure, but still there's nothing about here Vegas not following the contract.

Why are people clamoring about the Vezina like it matters at all?

An aging goalie that folds like a wet noodle in the playoffs has no real value to a contending team (the only kind of team who'd be interested in an aging goalie in the first place). It doesn't matter how good he played in meaningless regular season games the year before when you know how he played when it mattered the past couple years.

why? its business

There's nothing morally repugnant about it, but one would imagine that big name free agents around the league would see this trade as an indication as the kind of treatment they could expect from the Knights' management. The players know it's a business, but that doesn't mean there aren't benefits to doing right by your stars.

Trading him isn't the problem. Not having the courtesy to give him a simple phone call to tell him he's been traded first is.
Vegas has always treated their players like ****, they shipped Schmidt out after he signed a huge long term deal because a shiny new toy became available.

Lol. Spoken like someone who doesn't understand business.

Taking 2 minutes to call up someone and let them know they are traded so they don't get surprised by Twitter should be the bare minimum. If for no other reason as to not piss off fans like this, seeing as that's what the business is all about - getting fans to pay you for shit. Not to mention goodwill in the lockerroom and future UFA's considering how many other players talk with Fleury and friends.

It's so ridiculous that I expect this to be corrected, but if not, Vegas messed up.
