That was the "immediate bounceback" option. There was also a "futures focused" option, which is what we seem to have received (altho, of course, we don't know the full return yet).

You don't get top 6 c for guys on 1 year deals. You normally get 1st rd pick and prospects. Jones essentially got them the same he would at the trade deadline.

It came out that Jones would only negotiate with Chicago and Dallas, and that Dallas dropped out.

With that in mind, there wasn't a bidding war and the Jackets did well. I'm sure they could use this return to get a forward too, if needed. A good one.

I think this is a decent deal for CBJ, all things considered, with Jones openly saying he wants out.
