Like I wrote yesterday, Jake “Josh” Bean is only getting better and his
trajectory is incredible.
Don’t give up on him.

we haven't really talked about it a lot because it's been such a strong year from the big team's forwards, but there's some encouraging development going on down there. saarela has picked it up tremendously. we might we wise to consider giving him a contract offer like we gave zykov last year and for the same reasons. poturalski is another that has exceeded expectations. in a fairer world, maybe it's him that gets the mckegg minutes. for those that watch him regularly, is there a poison pill in his game? gauthier has put in another solid year of improvement with 24 goals. he's putting himself back on the radar. maturity enough to understand his development curve will be important for him. last year he beaked about his role in the offseason. hopefully he better understands that his particular game takes time. morgan geekie has been crazy good with 44 points as a rookie. just a lot of really solid developmental steps for a few guys.

I really hope Saarela can make it in the NHL , he has been on my radar and one of my favorite rookies ever since he was supposed to be the next great thing from Finland. I always seem to pick the wrong ones though LOL.

He's got the energy , he has the shot and he has the skating to be effective in the NHL. Hopefully it translates and he doesn't end up being another Zykov.

Saarela and Necas seem to have the NHL shot that the Canes, except for a couple of players, lack. I would like to think (maybe HOPE is a better word) that the addition of a guy like Bean and one or both of those guys on the PP taking 1 timers would instantly improve the Canes PP%.

I haven't watched much of the Checkers this year to know how good Saarela's 2 way play is so it would be good to hear from fans that did see a lot of him. Zykov last year seems to have been basically a PP specialist only and thus why he's not stuck in the NHL yet. If Saarela can come into camp in top shape, show Rod he's willing to work, and commit to pay on both sides of the ice, he should get an NHL spot.

You guys are probably going to hate this, but when I see Poturalski play, he reminds me a lot of Derek Ryan. Maybe my mind is predisposed to thinking that way because they are similar size, both RH, and both undrafted.

I’m going to the game at 1 today
Pooch Party! My family and 3 pups will be going!!

Hopefully they play better today than last night. After a solid first 25 min, they looked like garbage for a lot of the remaining game (with a few flashes of briliance)...unfortunately some piss poor calls turned the momentum too. Springfields 3rd goal came on a tripping penalty where our guy was trailing theirs, he cut behind and clipped the net and fell down, the ref 190 ft away called us. The 4th goal came because Robertson got mugged and punched to the ice so they had a free open guy to one-time it nearby. Ned wasn't great either, mishandled and whiffed a pass behind the net so they had an empty net to shoot at for the 2nd goal. The last 12 min of the 2nd we had 2 shots, the last 1:22 with the goalie pulled we had 0 shots...most of the time we let the goalie get set up before throwing it at him

Saarela though has an incredible shot, good lord...wicked wrister! And Gauthier has been having a great 2nd half of the season. It was a rare bad game from Ned. Carrick is like Faulk Jr. We definitely missed Bean on the blueline. I love Poturalski and Brown but I don't think they're more than tweeters. Necas mostly looked really good, i definitely think he's penciled on the Canes roster next year...most of his bad moves/turnovers were due to teammates being oblivious

I’ll be wearing a Biega race night game worn jersey. If you see me, say hey.
