McAvoy has always been a little overrated because he doesn't provide enough offensively. But last night had to be the worst playoff game from any star player i have seen. Just completely inept from start to finish.
I cringed ever time he touched the puck in his own end, might have even closed my eye a few times.Just craziness of how our top, defenceman played in these playoffs.

Monty's need to screw with the D pairings from the trade deadline on really came to bite them in the playoffs. It is clear that Orlov-McAvoy was a toxic pair and McAvoy tends to try and put the entire D on his back when things get sticky and he falls apart. He was also playing far too much because Lindholm, Clifton and Forbort were no shows.

I think seeing a sports psych might be a good thing for McAvoy to consider. He gets in his own head and when he does, it is ugly.

Watching Orlov and McAvoy bungle the puck and being out of position so much in the 1st half of the game I didn't understand how they didn't just flip-flop Orlov and Lindholm. It's not like Lindholm and Carlo were shutting Florida down.

Such a toxic pair

It's really mysterious how it didn't work or how it worked so poorly.

I will say (not to toot my own horn) but going into the deadline I raised concerns about bring D-men into this Bruins defensive system late in the year at the deadline. While my concerns were more about bringing in depth D that wouldn't be everyday players but it still holds true for higher end guys.

We've seen more than one D-man come in here at the deadline and not really adjust in time despite being quality players. Especially if they are coming from a more aggressive man-to-man style of defending. Orlov gave me some Greg Zanon vibes quite honestly.

The crazy thing is I think Carlo and Lindholm might have been the best D-men in the series . McAvoy, Orlov, Grzcelyk, and Clifton were all clearly worse to me

I heard he had two broken hands and a cold.

They were the best pair by far.

He had an awful series.

Anyone who wants to trade or consider trading him is out to lunch.
Exactly. I get the emotions people are going through, but c'mon man.

I don't know if its New England Sports fan thing or not, but you're either the greatest or you're garbage. There's no middle ground with some folks.

Charlie had a poor last 3 games. He'll learn from it and grow.

They were the best pair by far.
I don't know, man. I thought Lindholm was really disappointing this series. I expected more from him.

Sure, but he and Carlo were still a better pairing than anyone else.

Pairing him with Grzelcyk really paid off .:laugh::laugh:
When he played with aging Chara he played like a top pair D.
With Grzelcyk yesterday it was an utter shambles, erratic, had no composure, overpaid 3rd pair D level at best.
But hey, advanced statistics during the regular season were through the roof.

I love it when eye test people dunk on stats and don’t even know who the guys play with.

There shouldn't be a middle ground when your cap-hit is $ 9.5 mil. And Lindholm did have poor series.

I don't know what happened to him. I thought he should have been benched for OT. He could not make a pass out of the zone to save his life. He stopped hitting and seemed to have no legs. Forsling looked like Niedermeyer compared to him by the end of game 7... This was very concerning to watch, especially if he wasn't dealing with a serious injury.

100% agree I cringed every time he touched the puck in his own end ,very concerning when the guy who is supposed to be are number one defenceman turns to rubber for a game 7.

When you get outplayed by Brandon Montour, then something is definitely wrong. And not just game seven. For whole series
That big tackle in start of the game 3 or 4 was his best play in whole series. That gave them great start to take driving seat for rest of the series. Then they turn to passengers again after game 4.

He’s clearly softer then many of us starting with me

I’d deal him for Trouba and a pick

DK. I'm not saying he is overall terrible, but this was not the McAvoy we are accustomed to. His MO is being safe and efficient with the puck out of the zone and he literally couldn't make a basic tape to tape pass to save his life. Either he was injured or he choked badly...
