Bruins MVP and future Captain. I'd make him captain as soon as Bergeron retires (this summer) and have Marchy mentor him.

oh he's definitely going to wear the C. The only question is if Marchand gets it right affter bergeron retires and wears it for a few ears, or if it goes straight to Charlie Mack.

Serious question:

Why do so many posters think McAvoy is a sure thing captain?
Because he's a warhorse, and because his unit has had the least issues with leadership. People praise the forwards but the strength of this all time great team is the defense. McAvoy's unit is the bedrock the rest of the team is built around and McAvoy is the leader of that unit.

McAvoy isn't a standout offensive player but he's the guy who neutralizes opposing top forwards and our differential suggests he does a great job. Offense is flashy but defense wins championships.

Because it’s patently obvious that he is. Certainly after Marchand.

That's just it.

I don't see the obvious I guess.

Great player, steps up when needed, but I don't see the leadership qualities on the ice. Maybe people that go to games sense it, see him on the bench or in warmups showing signs of it.

Even with Bergeron and Marchand on the team, a guy like Foligno can come in and assert himself into a leadership role. His leadership qualities are obvious to me. Just don't see it yet with Charlie.

"McAvoy isn't a standout offensive player"

He had 56 points in 78 games last year.
He racked up 52 points in 67 games this year after coming back from shoulder surgery.

It's laughable to say he is not a standout offensive player. He needs to improve his shot, that much is true.

Like Bergy Charlie will lead on the ice first with his performances and by example. I have no issue with Brad being named Captain but I think Bergy will be back next year

But its clear Bergeron's leadership goes far beyond performance and example.
Bergy is not human lol

Been watching a lot of the other games. Still looking for a dman that is doing what Charlie is doing shift after shift

felt last night was his weakest game but the kid has been playing , as you say, like a beast, he`ll be ready tomorrow
Totally disagree he was one of the best players on the ice last night. Not sure what we expect out of the kid game in game out. If only half the roster had his willingness to win.

He is the next captain without a doubt. This is his team going forward
