Thought there would be a much bigger reaction here to McAvoy getting the 2nd team all-star nod.

Charlie actually got 7 first place votes (7-73-32) to edge out his buddy Adam Fox (0-68-72) who didn't get any. McAvoy also got a single first place vote in Norris voting.

So the one guy who left Roman Josi off his Norris ballot altogether (Scott Powers of the Athletic) had our own Charlie McAvoy 2nd on his ballot (behind Makar).

His ballot

1) Makar
2) McAvoy
3) Toews
4) Ekblad
5) Hedman

How do you leave Josi off the ballot?

I can't understand how someone would. It's not like its between Makar and Josi. How a professional hockey writer could leave off the highest scoring season by a D-man in nearly 30 years off of his ballot of FIVE players is absolutely mind-boggling stuff. Josi's total was 19th ALL-TIME.

What I think some guys do, and it's totally wrong to do so, is that they "strategically vote." Leave him off the ballot so the guy you actually want to win is more likely to do so.

I never thought of that but a very plausible scenario unfortunately.

Look up the Empty Netters Podcast because his interview is fantastic. Wide ranging interview and talked about his relationship with Mike Sullivan and his childhood.

He’s truly a blue collar kid who worked his butt off to get where he is.

We are so lucky to have him in Boston.

Future Captain imo.
