At 31 soon to be 32? nope. I will take Charlie, put Charlie with Tampa's D, and then have this conversation

Chara played at a high level until his knee injury
at age 37\38. Hedman clearly can play at that level until then. So for this and next year assuming Bergeron came back I will categorically state you have increased your chances of a Cup materially
this year and next and TB chances would decrease materially.

Anyone who actually believes that McAvoy is at Hedman's level needs to take off the black and gold colored glasses. McAvoy absolutely can't dominate
a series like Hedman.

In addition IMO, Makar, Heiskanen, Josi and Fox are better than McAvoy never mind Hedman.

What he do piss in your Cheerios ?

He's one of the top ten defenseman in the NHL, you should go fine another tree to piss on.

Sounds more like I pissed in your Cheerios.

Why don't you count the number of guys I listed
that I think are better and tell me what number that is

Not this year, so far.

McAvoy isn't top 10 in goals or assists or points or plus/minus or hits or blocks for defensemen.

It's a big reason to have hope for this team going forward this season in that Charlie can play so much better than he has so far.

We will agree to disagree on this one. The guy is all world for the Bruins. He plays in all situations blocks shots, is one of the few Bruins who can actually throw a hit that can hurt someone.

I also think he's playing pretty banged up, but that's Charlie he's a gamer, plays with heart and puts it out on the line game in and game out.

No problem.

It's not a question of effort. Love his compete level. But he's been caught up ice way too many times this season. Lots of turnovers and coverage has been spotty. He seems to be forcing the offense a lot without getting the increased production.

Second half, with team playing better, perhaps he'll take his game back up to the level we know he can reach.

Playing the way he has so far this season? Most of them.

yikes

so 2 mins left protecting a 1 goal lead you would perfer Erik Karlsson or Tony DAngelo or Quinn Hughes

McAvoy has been a absolute stud this season minus maybe the last week or so when he came back from his injury

No, none of those 3.

But there are also other defensemen not in the top scorers that would be better protecting a late lead. As it is, Carlo is more likely to be out their protecting a lead in the final minute than McAvoy.

And I completely disagree that Charlie's been a stud this season.

Most of those guys on that list would volunteer not to be on the ice protecting a one goal lead.

The NHL really needs to come up with a new trophy for winning the scoring race for "defensemen", its time.

Separate what a true defender is

That would be a coach that would be looking for work at the Perkins

Early on last night Charlie turned puck over at their blueline on a crossing pass to partner when he fanned on pass.Later same thing with room in own end .Needs to clean that stuff up to be elite. That said though he plays really hard ,can hit and is now scoring.Bruin for life !

agreed. Has not played anywhere near a 9.5 million dollar level IMO, but I think he will get there when the contract starts

you'd think Charlie tossed out a pizza and let up the game losing score rather than score the game winner last night and be the only person to respond physically in that game by reading this thread today.
