I'm surprised there's been no "He's gripping the stick too tight" excuses for Coyle. That's one of my favorites.

Why doesn't he at least throw a hit when it's there? It would be nice to see some kind of contribution from him. He looks like a stiff so far.

Absolutely useless player. Doesn't hit, doesn't make plays, doesn't score, just a complete non-factor every time he's on the ice. I'm surprised that so many B's fans are defending this guy when it's clear as day to anyone with a brain that he is total garbage.

Pro tip:

Want people to actually take an opinion seriously? Don't post in a player thread with an obvious agenda.

Judge Coyle once this team is healthy and he doesn't have Backes and Nordstrom as his wingers.

My "agenda" is for the Bruins to be the best possible team they can be and achieve the most success. Giving away Donato for Coyle actively hurts said chance at success because I can take off the homer glasses and see that Coyle is an awful hockey player.

If you think Donato makes the Bruins better than Coyle does, I think you need to put the glasses back on.

Keep insulting everyone that doesn't agree with you even though you've done nothing to back up your opinion

Only on HF is 9pts in 9 games >>>>>> 1 point in 8 games an "opinion". Yikes...

Jesus f***ing christ.

This:

is about as clear of an opinion as you can get. The idea that Donato for Coyle actively hurts our chances in opinion. The idea that Coyle is an awful hockey player is an opinion.

"Yikes" is right

Zucker-Staal-Donato > Nordstrom/Cehlarik-Coyle-Backes

Donato himself isn't better than Coyle today. However I think Coyle and Donato would be pretty good linemates. Would compliment each others weaknesses pretty well.

Its hard to take an opinion seriously when it’s obvious the poster isn’t paying attention to the players they’re discussing.

This place is something. Firmly in playoff spot. Team on an incredible run. Time to get players healthy. Plenty of time to figure out what lines are a go prior to opening night in Round 1.

Good? Not on your life.

Several posters want to call new guys like Coyle a useless hockey player. Makes you wonder if we don’t have some wolves in sheep clothing around here. I’m betting one or two of our regulars might have maple leafs tattooed on their asses and sleep in JT91 vintage pajamas.

Coyle is useless, though. Why is he getting power-play opportunities and on the ice in the closing seconds? This coach is trying so hard to justify his existence as a third line center.

Meanwhile, we got ripped off on draft picks and in the player deal itself. While we are enjoying the streak, some people do look at the organization and think of where we could be with just a little bit more managerial and scouting competence. We were told, that the Bruins were done distributing talent across the league, but here we go again. If you think there is a better thread to express that opinion than the centerpiece of the latest trade disaster, please say so.

Some people were over Jimmy Hayes a long time ago.

Would you care to give us Spooners stat lines when he joined the Rangers last year? Now tell us , where is he now?

Would you care to give us Donato's stat lines this year when he was with the Bruin? Now please explain how he was a relevant player here? 34 6 3 9 -11 even though he was given sheltered ice times.

FFS, Coyle hasn't lit the Bruins on fire, but in spite of his short comings , some how I'm more at ease with watching Coyle in a spoked B than I was watching Donato.

I liked Coyle's game tonight, this from a guy who called Coyle out last game, but it's going to be a while before I post that I'd rather have Donato than I would Coyle.

I don't want to shit on Donato, but I prefer a pointless Coyle to Donato on this team. He just fits here better. When we arm him with some real wingers, and by that I mean not Backes, he'll be fine.

Jesus, if your crying over Donato, I don't know what to tell you. The Bruins are stock full of players like Donato. Not sure why we can't trade one for something we are way short of, specifically , players like Coyle who in spite of his short comings , brings some sorely lacking size ( watch when the PO's roll around) an ability to protect the puck.

Did you not see how Donato was punked by Tampa in last years PO's? Do you think that's going to happen to Coyle? Do you think Tyler Johnson is going to run the Table on Coyle the way he did with Donato last year? After all this your argument is that we lost a 4th round pick, are you trolling us or what?

It's clear as day to anyone with a brain that this comment is total garbage.

Coyle played in the top 6 in Minn. He's now playing with inconsistent bottom paring line mates on the 3rd line. What did Donato do here? Not a damn thing!! I liked Donato's potential and am glad he's doing well, but this was an upgrade for the team today which is needed while the core is still playing at an elite level. We cannot wait for Donato to figure things out with the B's and our window close.

Coyle has driven the play and worked with what he has. The points will come when players come back from injury. He's not a 60 point player, but he will bring possession when he is on the ice which leads to more chances for than against.

I'm going to guess he will always have Backes.
Cassidy isn't breaking up the 4th line, and he almost has to play Backes due to the salary and who he is.
Pretty underwhelming at this point. During the 19 game point streak, how many points did the 3rd line have ?

I mean, a shot could have gone in off a leg or butt, or something, but nothing.

An awful hockey player? Talk about an over-reaction the nth degree. An "awful hockey player" should be reserved for actual awful hockey players. Coyle, whether you like him or don't, isn't an awful hockey player at all. He's actually a good hockey player. The production hasn't been there, but I don't get how one can watch Coyle and come away with "awful".

Saw some nice passes in the 3rd. Hope he can build on that. If krejci or Bergeron miss playoff games the real test is if they can weather the storm if he slots in top 2 C role. The team still is very reliant on 46 and 37 carrying the scoring
