I don't get the ******** on Blake.... What he did as a player and what he does as an exec should be viewed as two separate things...... Lets not **** on him before he has a chance to prove himself

Blake is a quitter and a traitor. He voluntarily gave up the "C" when he was on the Kings, only to gleefully wear it with the Sharks. He quit on this organization twice. There is no coming back from that level of betrayal for most of us.

I for one am not happy that so much of the Kings' future has now been placed in the hands of a guy who's already burned this franchise twice. :shakehead

Sad to see Dean go... Could've given him another figurehead position... But as mentioned in that tweet gas lost some big bets. For Sutter, it was time. Sad day!! Thanks Dean, thanks Darryl.. Never forget what you bought us

Everything has a place-it's time to change in LA. Blake is sharp, terrific leader..will be methodical, even keeled. Luc is face of franchise

Well there you have it, Ray Ferraro puts his stamp of approval. How is it (Pierre Le Brun said Blake will be 'great') the Canadian Media know Blake's resume that well...

Team Canada experience along with working for the NHL.

I hate Blake but, by all accounts, he isn't stupid. I mean, he screwed us and it got him a bigger contract and a Cup. Then we brought him back for another big contract, retired his number and then made him GM!

Screw this...I take back my Blake bashing. This guy is a genius!!!

Five years ago tomorrow, 4/11/12, was Game 1 of the Kings-Canucks first-round series. Five years. What a story arc.

Full circle...in 5 years.

That was a great game....

Five years ago, people cared who Rich Hammond was.

That's an interesting story arc as well.

Can we start a "Fire Rob Blake" thread? I don't want to hear that we need to give that clown a chance. We gave him two chances already and he lifted a leg and crapped on us both times.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Luc has been working behind the scenes for a couple of years to be the next man in charge.

It's a shame, because Luc isn't exactly Phi Beta Kappa, and it's going to show rather quickly.

Maybe it's just me, but you're making Luc sound like he's some kind of evil man.

It only makes sense to put him where he wants to be. Just like any other job, they promote within. They will get their chance and if it doesn't work in whatever time frame, they go down the line. This isn't a surprise. Maybe they asked Futa and he would rather stay where he is? Who knows. I'm sure that will come out sooner or later.

I'm not saying they're going to be great. I honestly have no idea. But, I do think they have a better idea of how the game is played (at least compared to Sutter/Dean). The real question will be is who is going to coach this team. That's the only thing that still and rightfully so I'm worried about.

What a disgraceful signing. If I was Futa I would moon AEG and bounce from town. As a Kings fan, I hope to God he stays and neuters Blake.

What the mother ****

At the end of the day DL did a great job building on the future superstars he inherited and made the correct short term moves to win the 2 Cups, but was just never able to add enough to have that long-term sustained success he talked about.

There were so many near misses at the draft table, if the Kings even end up with one of Giroux, Voracek, Karlsson, OEL, Tarasenko (all taken a few picks after we went) it could be a completely different story. There just wasn't enough high end young talent to replace the older veterans that left.

Seriously, what has Blake done to deserve the GM job over Futa? The Kings gave this clown a second chance as a player that he didn't deserve. Retired his number when he didn't deserve that either. Now he's hogging a job that he doesn't deserve. If Blake had any integrity, he'd step down and let Futa be the GM.

The Rob Blake fans can say "get over it" or whatever they want to say, but this team just put a guy who tore the "C" off his sweater in a contract dispute into the role of GM.

Those of you looking for guys to take "hometown discounts" can forget about it right this second. Mr. NHLPA and got to set the bar for defensemen isn't going to be able to make that **** happen.

He might turn out good. **** him though. As a long time fan, this feels like a return to the 90s and not because both of these guys played back then.

It only seems to me that Luc cares about the business side of things. Winning and making money go hand-in-hand, but I'm still completely wary of him. The comments from the LA Business Journal at the start of the season still don't sit well with me.
Yup. **** Rob Blake

What a disaster transfer of the guard. Over Futa? Over Futa?

When Blake fails miserably as GM and gets fired (it's not an if, it's a when), will the Kings at least have the decency to unretire his number and take his banner down from the rafters?

People seem to put their emotions ahead of rationality. I'm just concerned with what decisions they make.

Dave Taylor didn't have much experience when he took over as GM but did a respectable enough job taking over a mess of a team and turning them into a more respectable organization.

SO? that was when he was a player.... He is no longer a player...

And really, how many players are not in it for the money.... Be in the NHL/MLB/NFL every player is out for the big $$$$.. VERY FEW players put money second over loyalty..... even fewer sign hometown discounts when they can get a much bigger $$$ elsewhere

And don't give me that "well I wouldn't do that" ******** because none of us have been presented with a multi million dollar contract to do do our job

Wonder if those Beckerman comments are in reference to the pretty obvious and public disagreements Sutter and Lombardi had about players, usage, etc.

Not that the alternative of Luc as Supreme Ruler is better.

Unpopular opinion: Blake is smart enough and knows the league enough to be an 'average' NHL GM.

It would take a whole lot more than that to fix this, though.

I AM curious what his vision is, but with the AEG vote of confidence for Blake/Luc, paired with their sentiment that we're still a playoff team, I'd expect we're gonna keep going for it...the black hole, that is

Nope. It can be mutually exclusive. He was a mother **** Captain and a greenhorn exec. How is it "rational" (to use your exact words) to hire Blake? Yet the "emotional responses" are irrational, hence my question.

Why is everyone so obsessed with Futa?

The Kings drafting has stunk the past few years, and wasn't he in a position where he was likely advising DL on some of these disaster moves that have been made in recent years?

I just don't think replacing DL with his protege is really the change that we needed, although replacing him with the AGM isn't really it either.
