Well maybe he'll be a better playoff performer for the Flames than he ever was for us. Don't get me wrong, we still liked Jarnkrok overall... he played up and down the lineup in whatever role was asked of him, and did a pretty good job in basically all those spots. He was still great value for that contract he signed overall.

Just... I would never have given up anything for him specifically in the context of being a trade deadline rental for the playoffs. He always found a way to completely vanish in the playoffs for us. He's a very soft player, and you don't mind that so much in the regular season, especially if he's still playing a good 2-way game overall. But in the playoffs he just seemed far too timid and ineffectual. I wouldn't have taken him back on our team for free if it was just for playoff purposes. Sorry. :( As a longer term player to continue his regular season utility role, sure, he's a decent player. But not as a deadline rental, no thanks.
You can say the same on a lot of players on teams that had no playoff success

That's going to be a tough group to play against whoever faces them in the playoffs as they're all 200ft players and have bought into Daryl's system.

I like this trade for Seattle being they got solid picks and Calgary got a solid player to potentially bring them to the next level.

Calgary doing everything they can to make sure they're 2022 first round draft pick is in the 30s

I dont think Ruzicka is automatically coming out, injuries will happen and Sutter has shown hes not afraid to bench players hes not happy with, just as Dube. Best 12 will play. Management just made the team deep and players are going to now have to constantly perform for ice time.

No even positionally Lewis sits long before Lucic and Coleman just cha-cha slides to the right
Sutter likes Lewis way too much to sit him. Right or wrong, both Dube and Ruzicka come out before him. Monahan should be sitting before Ruzicka but the Flames don't have the stones to do that.

That would be a mistake, Ruzicka has been much better than Lewis and Ruzicka is a natural center, Jarnkrok isn't. Hopefully Sutter doesn't mess this up
Sutter loves Lewis….he should replace Monahan or Lucic but that’s not going to happen also. My bet is Ruzicka or Dube

Looks better to me. Three 2 way Swedish Centers down the middle is something I can definitely get behind.

It looks like a pretty good return for the Krakens. That said, I realy see the Flames like legit cup contender so a 60+ pick to start isnt not a bud release for the Flames.

Calgary :sarcasm:

Calgary's lines for tonights game without Jarnkrok are:

Gaudreau-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Coleman-Backlund-Lewis
Mangiapane-Ruzicka-Toffoli
Lucic-Monahan-Dube
Richardson-Ritchie

He displaces Lewis on the second line if we're talking from a skill POV.
Positionally, Lucic sits out.

Either way that's a pretty formidable forward group.
What? No he doesn’t. Where would you even get that idea

I like that lineup too. For some reason Sutter likes to have Monahan at center and I believe he has chemistry with Lucic.

Lucic-Monahan-Lewis was a pretty good line for them early in the year. If Monahan ever finds his scoring touch again, this team could be real dangerous.

The third added on is more than I'd have liked to add, but Seattle knew they had us over a cliff, with our cap after the Toffoli trade, Järnkrok was pretty much the only possible decent forward upgrade we could fit under the cap.

But I'm ok with it. Maybe we go out in the first round again, but we have to go for it this year. We're doing well, the team bought in, and you kinda gotta add at this point. With Tkachuk, Mangiapane, Gaudreau and Kylington all needed new deals next season, Markstrom playing fantastic, the opportunity and window for this core to succeed will literally never be this good ever again. So if we blow it and enter a rebuild again in a couple years so be it.

Definitely a bit of overpayment, but I'll happily take it. Should fit like a glove.

Solid injury depth/flexibility, and once again going "all in" without moving any of our top pieces.

Probably because Monahan is very good at faceoffs, whereas Dube and Jarnkrok are rather subpar to mediocre at best. He's not going to be moved to the wing simply because of this
